Sophie Turner Has Been Busy 'Shooting'
According to People magazine, a source close to the estranged couple has revealed that their children have been staying with Jonas amid their divorce. Jonas and Turner are proud parents to Willa, 3, and a second daughter, identified as D.J., 14 months, and sources have shared that their priority is providing a nurturing and stable environment for their children.
The insider noted that Turner's filming schedule has required her to be away from home, leaving the children with Jonas, who has been caring for them.
"She has been shooting, which is why the kids have been with Joe. It's just been easier because she's been working for the kids to be with him because there's some more support at home and on the road with his family. It's something they both agreed was best," the insider revealed.
Joe Jonas Filed To Divorce Sophie Turner After 4 Years
The Jonas Brothers singer officially filed for divorce from the "Game of Thrones" actress after four years of marriage, per The Blast. The petition for the dissolution of marriage was filed on Tuesday, Sept. 5, in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
As we reported earlier, Jonas and Turner both have an iron-clad prenup. According to the court documents, "the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken," and Jonas is requesting joint custody of their children.
The couple once celebrated for their love story and chemistry, tied the knot in a spontaneous Las Vegas ceremony in 2019, and later held a more formal ceremony in France.
The pair recently took to their Instagram accounts to share a joint statement. "After four years of wonderful marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage," the statement read. "There are many speculative narratives as to why, but, truly, this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
The Split Didn't Come As A 'Surprise' To Their Inner Circle
While the divorce news might have shocked their fans, an insider close to the couple has revealed that it didn't catch those in their inner circle off guard as the pair have been "living separate lives for months," per People.
The source noted that Jonas' decision to file didn't come as a "surprise" as they spent "the whole summer apart." The insider went on to share that they "were not separated, but they've been living separate lives for months."
The pair reportedly hadn't "gotten along" before the divorce filing but hoped to "resolve this all amicably."
"As far as custody goes, this literally just happened, so they're figuring it out in real-time," the source shared. "They did have a prenup. As a family, they were based in Florida. The kids were with him the last few months, traveling with him with family while he's been on tour. Sophie's been working in the UK."
Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner Are Striving To 'Keep Things As Positive As Possible'
In an update on their evolving relationship, a source shared that the couple is making earnest efforts to maintain a positive atmosphere amid their separation.
"People are trying to be negative towards both of them, but they are trying to keep things as positive as possible, knowing there's always a lot of tension in a divorce," the source told People. "They're two incredibly scrutinized people. This is incredibly stressful for them, but everything between them has been very collaborative."
The source went on to reveal that the sale of their home in Miami was "coordinated" by them, and "they made a profit on it."
"It was something they both wanted to do. Everything has been very collaborative. The sale of the house wasn't in advance of a divorce specifically as sometimes people do, but it does make it easier," they added.
