UPDATE 4:19 pm

Riverside City Police tell The Blast that last week a friend called Jesse Camp's cell phone and was told by a stranger who answered that Camp had given him his phone and his clothes. This prompted Camp's sister to contact police and file a missing person report.

We're told Riverside will be issuing a missing person alert on social media and will contact the Fontana Police department since, as we previously reported, that was the last known place Camp was spotted.

Camp's family has still not heard from the VJ.

Former MTV VJ Jesse Camp just so happened to be stopped by police last week in Fontana, California just hours before his sister reported him missing.

Fontana Police tell The Blast that on Thursday, July 19, a bicycle officer spotted Camp around 10:00 AM in front of a local Sherwin Williams. The officer did what is known as a "pedestrian check" to make sure Camp was alright and verified his identity based on his driver's license.

It was determined at the time that the former VJ was fine and the officer took no further action. Later that day, we're told a missing person report was filed in nearby Riverside.

We're told the area around the hardware store is a common spot for "transients and homeless people."

In April, Camp was spotted just across the street from the hardware store, outside of an A&P, when he flagged a police officer down to ask a question.

According to Camp's sister, he has been missing for a little over a week.
