Dionne Warwick has plans to get the root of the recent bizarre changes to Twitter!
Since Elon Musk took over running the social media company Twitter, now known as X, he has made significant changes to the platform's features, some of which users have openly questioned.
Warwick, who once joked about being the CEO of Twitter, is now voicing her intentions to talk about the app's changes with Musk, particularly his latest plan to remove the blocking feature.
Dionne Warwick Is Not Quite Sure About What Elon Musk Is Doing With Twitter
The "Walk On By" songstress wants to have a chat with Musk and opened up about her intentions on Monday, September 4 at the release party for Todd Hunt's "Postcards from Brazil, Volume 2" in Urban Press Winery, Burbank, California.
She commented on the billionaire magnate's plans to remove X's blocking feature: "I have yet to speak to that young man, and I intend to because I am not quite sure what he's doing or if he knows what he's doing. So until that happens, I'll reserve my answer to that question."
Fans got wind of the imminent changes for X's blocking features when Musk reacted to a Tesla Owners Silicon Valley post on Friday, September 1. "Is there ever a reason to block vs mute someone?" the post read, and he replied, "Block is going to be deleted as a 'feature', except for DMs."
The 52-year-old investor has not provided a reason for the update or when users should expect it. However, in a follow-up tweet, he mentioned that the mute function would remain.
Warwick, who is featured on "New Beginning" on Hunt's new record, declared that she is bent on meeting Musk as she told People Magazine, "I have to meet him. I know a lot of people have walked away from Twitter. That's prior to knowing exactly what he's going to do. He's new to the game."
She added that while the SpaceX CEO's attitude was "freedom of speech," there was "a way to do it." This is one of the conversations she hoped to have with him. "What is your true intent?" she said of the questions she plans to ask. "I understand your freedom of speech attitude, but how are you going to contain it so it does not get out of hand?"
Her declaration comes about four months after Musk confirmed his withdrawal as the CEO of X and revealed his replacement would be a woman. He shared in a tweet, "Excited to announce that I have a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~ six weeks! I will transition to exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops."
Before then, Musk used a poll on X to ask users if he should resign as the head of the company. Unsurprisingly, more than half of the users voted for his resignation.
The X Corp chairman followed the voters' wishes, maintaining that he would only bow out "as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!" He eventually found the right person for the job but did not reveal her name, prompting X users, including Warwick, to poke fun at the hiring.
The 82-year-old joked that she would be the new CEO by tweeting, "I am excited to take on the role as CEO of Twitter officially. This has been in the works for months."
Her fans approved of her tease in the comments section, including one that penned, "I love it! And will you be considering the U.S. Presidential race because you get my vote for both? π₯°.β
The 'Alfie' Vocalist Canceled Her June Show Due To A 'Minor' Medical Problem
The "Walk On By" songstress' revelation about Musk comes months after she had to cancel her concert set for June 24 at Rivers Casino Des Plaines due to a medical issue.
Reports revealed that an email was sent from the show's venue to ticket holders, notifying them of the cancellation. A rep for the "Don't Make Me Over" songstress later released a statement about her condition, pointing at "a minor issue" with one of her legs that had been fixed.
In addition, sources claimed Dionne Warwick was already recovering but needed to "take some time on her own to return to 100%." Fans quickly supported the music star on Twitter, with one proclaiming, "Wishing πueen @dionnewarwick speedy recovery. ππΎπ.β
