Whoopi Goldberg reportedly canceled plans to attend the premiere of the latest season of "The View." According to the Daily Mail, the "Sister Act" star, who was originally scheduled to co-host the event, announced to the crew that she tested positive for COVID-19 for the third time.

The Tuesday event left fans wondering about her absence as the show's co-host Joy Behar stood in to help moderate things. The 80-year-old, along with her other co-hosts, sat as usual at their table to chat with the live studio audience and discuss Goldberg's illness.

Behar explained, "As you can see, Whoopi is not here, she has Covid." Referencing the last two times the actress unfortunately tested positive for the virus, she said, "Yes. It's back, it's back." She then noted that Goldberg was taking the required medications and apologized to fans "who were looking forward to seeing her."

Her absence comes after Goldberg's unusually brief appearance in the new season's promo video caused fans to worry that she might be quitting the popular talk show.

Goldberg recently skipped attending the Bella Flora Celebrity Golf Tournament set to happen on August 28. The event, which took place at Laguna Beach, had four of her children, Alex Martin, Mason Dean, Asmara Dean, and Jerzey Dean, in attendance.

The family made an appearance at the ceremony to show support for their mother's Cannabis Cactus magazine feature, as the publication was one of the event's partners.

While she was silent on her reason for missing the family gathering, it is unsure whether she had tested positive for the virus at the time. Goldberg's absence also extends to her social media accounts, as the actress last posted an update on her life on July 27.

Goldberg's multiple encounters with the COVID-19 virus first started in early 2022 when she revealed that she was ill. She noticed the symptoms towards the end of 2021, even up until New Year's Eve. The diagnosis came as a shock to the actress since she received three times the vaccine dosage to avoid any issues.

Following the test, Goldberg took a break from "The View" until she was healed. Upon her return, the star revealed that she spent her healing time listening to audiobooks and resting. In November 2022, Whoopi got COVID for the second time, causing her to take another break from work.

When she returned, she talked about how the virus could still affect people even after they got booster shots. She also pointed out that her recent COVID experience was challenging despite some people saying it wasn't as bad anymore. The actress noted, "I will tell you, we're used to people saying, "Oh [Covid] isn't that bad [now]," but this was a rough one."
