Demi Lovato OD: Nurse Claimed Singer Was Doing Methamphetamine; Cops Took Pics of Drug Paraphernalia
By TheBlast Staff on July 25, 2018 at 4:46 AM EDT
Unfortunately, Demi Lovato had a major relapse in her sobriety, and when cops responded to her home after the singer was suffering from an apparent overdose they observed and documented evidence of illegal drug use.
Law enforcement sources tell The Blast responding LAPD officers identified drug paraphernalia, along with what they believed to be drug "remnants" strewn about Lovato's Hollywood Hills home Tuesday morning after responding to the 911 call.
We're told the officers were unable to I.D. the possible drug leftovers, nor were they sure if there was enough to be collected for analysis, so we're told all evidence of drugs and drug paraphernalia were photographed and documented by cops. Weighing into the officer's decision was also the fact that they were responding to a call for medical aid, not a criminal act.
As we first reported, Demi was uncooperative with responding paramedics, and refused to name the drugs she took before falling unconscious.
However, sources connected to the situation tell us the incident report states that a nurse at the hospital told police Lovato was using some type of methamphetamine in the time leading up to the incident. The manner in which she was allegedly using the substance was not revealed.
It had been erroneously reported that Lovato had overdosed on heroin, which our sources close to the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer had steadfastly denied all along.
The fact that Lovato may have been abusing methamphetamine doesn't explain why the singer was "unconscious" when paramedics first arrived to her home. It's also been reported she was administered a Narcan shot, which is used to counter the effects of an opioid overdose.
We're told Demi is not in any legal trouble, and there is no criminal investigation related to the incident.
Late Tuesday, a rep for the singer said she is "awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support."
