Sam Asghari Unfollows Britney Spears On Instagram After She Claims She Was 'Lied To'

Pop star Britney Spears is still following actor Sam Asghari on Instagram but it looks like he is ready to pull the plug on their social media relationship.

On Wednesday, August 16, the 29-year-old actor filed for divorce from the 41-year-old Princess of Pop citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor put down July 28, 2023, as the date of separation, which means that the former couple has been apart for over a month now.

Last week, Britney deactivated her Instagram account, leading to false reports that Sam had unfollowed her on Instagram. However, when she reactivated her account, it still showed that he was following her. However, on Tuesday, September 5, it was clear that Sam had unfollowed her from Instagram after a recent post saying that she had been "lied to" and tricked."

On Tuesday, September 5, it appears that Sam unfollowed Britney, as well as several other accounts on Instagram. The last time that Britney posted on Instagram was before Labor Day, on Sunday, September 3. She posted another video that featured her dancing in her animal-print onesie with a plunging neckline to show off her brown bra.

“My HANDS ON MY HIPS SAY EVERYTHING !!! How many times have you guys been lied to or tricked by someone you loved ??? Psss on repeat because well … I MEAN IT !!!” she wrote in the caption of the Instagram post, which she set to a radio mix of Kelis’ “Trick Me.” She followed it up with a second Instagram video set to Kelis’ “Milkshake.” In the caption of that Instagram post, she wrote, “Milky Way chocolate ?? Do you remember those ???!!!” However, fans could not answer, as comments have been disabled.

Last month,  a source told Us Weekly that Sam and the “Toxic” singer were not in contact amid the split. “She’s not letting [Sam] in the home and they aren’t talking,” adding, “They have had problems for a while and all of the drama surrounding Britney was incredibly hard for Sam to take.”

Another source told ET that the couple’s relationship changed after the conservatorship ended in November 2021. The two had been together ever since they met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016. Sam popped the question in September 2021, two months before her conservatorship was struck down by a judge.

"Britney could be argumentative at times, but also felt like Sam didn't let her do a lot of things without him," a source said. "Before Britney's conservatorship ended, Sam was very supportive. Once it ended, Britney felt very free, but that eventually changed based on certain dynamics in her relationship with Sam."

"Britney felt like things shifted in her relationship with Sam once her conservatorship ended. Before it ended, Britney was more in a set routine, but once she was free, a lot changed,” another insider divulged. "Britney wanted to embrace her freedom and felt like Sam couldn't necessarily handle that," they said, adding, "Britney will never let another person control her, and she felt like that was starting to happen again."

Another source told the Daily Mail that Britney has been feeling a lot of “unhappiness” in her relationship in the months leading up to the divorce. “Britney was done with Sam months ago and was very unhappy,” the source claimed. “There were plans in place to set Sam up with his own place and give him money to live on so that it would be amicable.”

They also went on to explain why Britney might have been posting about being “lied to” and “tricked,” as another source told the outlet that Britney is suspicious that Sam has been feeding her father, Jamie Spears, information about her life ever since they met in 2016.

“Britney has reason to believe that Sam was secretly working with her dad Jamie since early on in their relationship,” the insider claimed. “Sam would supply information to Jamie that would help to keep her locked in the conservatorship. In exchange, Sam was given access to her and her money. Britney now feels like Sam was being deceitful all along.”
