Jen Selter Shares Her Recipe For A Papaya Chia Banana Smoothie

Chia seeds have been making the rounds on TikTok lately. Influencers have been touting chia seeds as a way to help get things moving, which is why she includes a tablespoon of them in her De-Bloat Papaya Chia Banana Smoothie. Here is the full list of ingredients:

  • 1 cup of fresh papaya chunks
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk (or your milk of choice)
  • a handful of ice
  • honey or agave nectar to taste (optional)

Jen mixes all of the ingredients up in her BlendJet and then drinks it down. She doesn’t say how long it will take for the smoothie to work, but then again, it’s different for everyone.

In the caption of her Instagram post, Jen explained why stretching is important to reduce bloating. “Gentle twists and folds that target your abdomen, promoting digestion while releasing tension. Breathe through each stretch for maximum benefits,” she explained. In the video, she starts out in a plank before she moves onto her back, pulling her knees into her chest.

She also crosses her legs over each side of her body before she places her feet above her head, propping her legs up on the side of her balcony (although those at home can just use a wall!) She then pulls out some coconut oil and uses stomach cupping to help give herself an abdominal massage.

“Treat yourself to a self-massage using clockwise circles to stimulate blood flow, supporting digestion and alleviating discomfort,” she wrote. “It’s like a hug for your tummy!” In the video, she also uses her hands to press down on her stomach in long strokes, as well as rubbing in circles.

It’s no surprise that the fitness trainer also incorporates exercise into her plan to reduce bloating. In the video, she grabs two light dumbbells and does arm raises, press jacks, leg raises, and bicep curls with shoulder presses to help get her blood pumping. She then goes for a walk to help get some steps in.

“Getting some movement in is always a good idea. Activate your metabolism, help eliminate excess water retention, and enhance circulation,” she wrote, adding, “Take that outdoor stroll to not only clear your mind but also stimulate your digestive system. Enjoy nature while aiding digestion (a win-win).”
