Doja Cat has deleted the post unveiling her forthcoming album, "Scarlet," slated for release on September 22nd.
The pop sensation used Instagram to officially announce the album's launch date. While she did not provide specific details, she did unveil the album's intriguing cover art, depicting a menacing scarlet-hued spider fixated on a droplet of blood. It is worth noting that the artwork seems to bear a resemblance to a cover by the German metal band Chaver.
Doja Cat Took Down Her Album Art Cover Just 24 Hours After Unveiling It
During the earlier months of this summer, Chaver revealed their upcoming album titled "Of Gloom." Interestingly, the artwork for the album was created by Dusty Ray — the same person who worked on Doja's.
The band's album cover showcases a prominent pinkish-hued arachnid along with a small spot, looking more like a dot than a blood droplet. Per Pitchfork, the artwork also includes the band's name and the album title as part of its design. Announcing "Of Gloom," which drops on the same day as "Scarlet," Chaver penned on social media:
"The striking cover art, masterfully crafted by Dusty Ray @sloppjockey_ert (who has been with us since our first album), serves as a captivating contrast to the album's intense music, setting the stage for a trip to a place of pain."

The decision appears to be made after similarities were found between her album cover and that of metal band CHAVER. Both artworks were made by artist Dusty Ray. pic.twitter.com/FeX1PfHhxw

Upon seeing the resemblance of both artworks, Doja ultimately made the decision to pull hers down, as PopCrave observed on X — formerly Twitter. Responding to the update, one person wrote, "I’m confused why it’s so similar omg?? Damn near an exact replica She commissioned this so it should be custom, even if it is by the same artist ☹️ Man that sucks.”
“The cover was so nice. I blame Dusty ray for the similarities,” a second person noted, and a third quoted their joy, typing, “I’m actually glad, because that little spider wasn’t doing it for me anyway.”
Prior to the dramatic occurrence, the "Wine Pon You" artist had demonstrated her versatility by showcasing a brief yet captivating display of her dance moves on her Instagram Story. In a ten-second snippet, she exquisitely swayed her slender waist, revealing her captivating allure.
During this moment, the award-winning songstress adorned herself in a petite white flared skirt held with a wide brown belt and a sheer bralette-style top that left little to the imagination. Starting off the dance, she interlocked her hands and elevated one leg, causing her waist to twist rhythmically.
Doja kept a smile on her face as she switched styles, crossing her arms around her midriff while continuing to move her belly ring-adorned waist. Although short, the rhythmic sway added to the anticipation that fans have been experiencing since she announced the impending release of her album.
The Grammy Award Winner Slammed Her Fans For Attempting To Give Themselves A Name
The Blast recently reported that the multitalented artist had remained resilient in her battle against her fanbase. She made her unaffected stance toward public perceptions abundantly clear through a message shared on her Instagram Story.
To that end, she uploaded an image that depicted a tap with a black head, releasing water into what appeared to be a bathtub. Accompanying the visual, she inscribed the following words:
"All that matters to me is that my fans know who I am and the others are stuck trying to figure out."
Doja and her fans have been at loggerheads since the "So High" hitmaker told them to "get a life, get a job, and help your parents with the house." The rant resulted in three of her most notable X — formerly Twitter — stan accounts, namely Doja HQ, The Kittens Room, and Doja Cat News, getting deactivated.
As the online conflict continued, the handlers of the accounts associated with the "Need to Know" artist requested an apology from her. It ultimately got to the point where the discussion shifted to the demands and obligations that come with celebrity status in today's digital age.
Speaking on the issue, one of the handles expressed, "Artists don't owe fans anything outside of surface-level respect. It's a 50/50 thing, you know? I respect you for what you do, and you respect me in return for that support."
Doja seemingly paid no mind to the situation, escalating it even more when one of her supporters informed her that they had conducted a poll on X to determine the most fitting name for the fan base in 2020. In response, the singer-songwriter claimed that the individual who initiated the poll was merely an "alcoholic teen," adding "My fans don't call themselves sh*t."
