Chrissy Teigen is eternally grateful to the woman who completed her dream of having four kids!
The stunning model, best known for being R&B sensation John Legend's wife, never shies away from sharing her vulnerabilities, especially when she lost her son.
Losing the boy, whom the couple affectionately named Jack, shattered the Utah beauty's heart. However, she overcame her grief and turned to surrogacy to welcome another baby. As fate would have it, she and her surrogate ended up birthing the 37-year-old's third and fourth child, respectively.
Chrissy Teigen Reflects On Her Blossoming Relationship With Her Son's Surrogate & Their Children
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model recently opened up about the latest addition to her family and the remarkable woman who made it possible. The "Cravings: Hungry for More" author and her husband welcomed son Wren via surrogacy in June.
According to the celebrity chef, meeting the surrogate, Alexandra, was a blessing in many ways as she not only completed her family but also became a significant member of the famous household. Raving about their connection to PEOPLE, the proud mother of four revealed:
"We talk all the time, constantly on a nice little text exchange. She sees all my Instagram Stories, and I try to send her little pictures behind the scenes. I told her at the beginning of this journey, I wanted someone who would be there for birthday parties and throughout life."
The former "Deal or No Deal" briefcase model added, "I wanted to meet her children, and I wanted my children to be friends with her children. And they really genuinely are, which has been a really beautiful thing to see."
Reflecting on the duo's journey, Teigen confessed that she never planned on having a typical surrogacy relationship with Alexandra. "It's been a fantastic atmosphere. She knew early on, going into this, that I kind of wanted something that's maybe a little different from what other parents do," the 37-year-old explained.
The "Cookies and Cocktails" host noted that she understood why other families might not want a close bond with their surrogates. However, in her case, she had always supported creating a welcoming environment for the people in her life.
The cookbook author confessed: "But for me, I think the way I operate with anybody in our house, whether it's nannies or my mother living with us, or my friends that are in the house or security or whatever, I want an atmosphere where everybody feels really comfortable in our home and that extended to her."
Reaffirming her decision to be close to Alexandra, the mother of four stated she did not believe in "hoarding" love, nor was she jealous if her kids got close to someone else. "To me, more love is more love, and that's what I've always wanted, and it's been really working out for us. We're so lucky," the entertainer chimed.
The 'Lip Sync Battle' Alum Detailed Her Surrogacy Journey In 4th Child Announcement
Two months before raving about her close bond with her son's surrogate, Teigen opened up about Alexandra's impact on her and Legend's lives. In June, the doting mother reflected on the journey that led to Wren's arrival in an emotional announcement about the boy's birth.
The Utah beauty detailed her inspirational story in a 10-slide Instagram carousel, seven of which housed handwritten messages about her surrogacy experience. The 37-year-old confessed she had dreamed of having four children since she was a little girl.
Unfortunately, Teigen's dream got derailed in 2020 after losing Jack, a moment that made the entertainer doubt her ability to carry any more babies. However, the "Bring the Funny" judge decided to try again while the spouses weighed their options at a surrogacy agency in 2021.
The couple underwent IVF, the same process that helped them welcome their older children, Luna and Miles. "We made new embryos. We did my transfer and were so happy to learn it worked—we were pregnant with our little girl, Esti," the model revealed.
Around this point, the couple met Alexandra, the "incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate" they could ever imagine. The entertainer claimed she knew the surrogate was the "perfect match" for the couple during their first conversation and immediately wanted to be her friend and connect their children.
After losing the first embryo, Alexandra successfully completed Teigen's dream of four kids a few minutes before midnight on June 19. The TV personality concluded the post with gratitude to the surrogate, claiming she had given her family an "incredible gift."
