Robert Downey Jr. Flaunts Wife's Striking Beauty For 18th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

Robert Downey Jr. is proving he is still obsessed with his wife, Susan Downey, as they mark their eighteenth wedding anniversary with unbridled affection!

The lovebirds tied the knot in August 2005 after getting engaged about two years before. They also share two kids: a son, Exton Elias, born in February 2012, and a daughter, Avril Roel, born in November 2014.

In honor of the couple's anniversary, Robert ensured to show off his wife's extraordinary beauty by dropping the most captivating images on social media alongside a charming declaration of love.    

On August 25, the Marvel star posted two snaps featuring himself and his beloved on his Instagram feed, commemorating eighteen years of marriage. The first slide was from their wedding day, while the second was more recent. Both photographs showed the "Sherlock Holmes" star's face partly obscured as he whispered in Susan's ear. 

The 49-year-old producer also seemed to have found whatever her husband said funny as she grinned in both slides. In the first picture, Susan looked stunning in her wedding dress while holding a bouquet of orchids, while Robert could be seen looking dapper in a dark suit.

In the next slide, fast forward to recent times, Susan was dressed more casually with a simple white blouse as she held a bouquet of sunflowers while the "Iron Man" star donned a yellow long-sleeve shirt. The "Oppenheimer" actor proclaimed in the caption, "18 years, love still in bloom!!"

The post amassed over 4 million likes, alongside many comments congratulating the married pair. One of the commenters was fellow Marvel star Jeremy Renner, who gushed, "These are the best photos, Robert! Love you both !!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.” Similarly, another fan penned, "Happy Anniversary to you and the missus ?❤️."

A third fan declared, "Lots of love, dearhearts," before a fourth follower confessed, "Love is patient…congrats! I never even knew he had a girlfriend, let alone a wife & she is gorgeous!"

A fifth comment read, "I'm so happy that I like you as a famous person! You are an example compared to most other super-famous humans ❤️ happy anniversary! You guys are super cute."

One more followed, "She stuck with you through thick and thin?!? That's a woman!!" while an ensuing remark read, "Love you guys. Two persons loving each other make happier and better all the [world]. So, please, keep your love alive. We need it. We need you. ❤️??."  

Although Robert and Susan have been married for nearly two decades, they have been together for twenty years since they began dating in 2003. The duo met when the "Iron Man" star was featured in the 2003 psychological thriller "Gothika" alongside Halle Berry and Penélope Cruz.

Susan produced the film then through her job with the production company Silver Pictures. Several months after the lovers became an item, they made their red carpet debut at the premiere of "The Singing Detective," starring Robert, Katie Holmes, Robin Wright, and Adrien Brody. 

In November, a month after their red carpet debut, the "Chaplin" star proposed to Susan, mere hours before she turned 30, as revealed in a 2004 interview on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." Two years following their engagement, they got hitched on Long Island, New York, with celebrity guests like Sting, Keanu Reeves, and Billy Joel in attendance. 

Before Robert found his soulmate in Susan, he was involved with fellow Hollywood star Sarah Jessica Parker from 1984 to 1991.

Parker once opened up about their love affair in an interview, conveying how exasperated she felt about her attempts to support the "Tropic Thunder" actor amid his struggles with addiction. 

The "Firstborn" actress divulged that she was usually disregarded by those close to Robert despite her rock-solid dedication to providing him with a stable and conducive environment.

She told the outlet, "People around him would be dismissive of me, but I had given him stability and tried to create a steady heartbeat that allowed him to show up on time." Although the dismissal made Parker "angry and embarrassed," she and Robert currently have an amicable relationship and respect each other.
