Sam Asghari Reportedly 'Jobless' Amid Strike, Britney Spears Divorce

It looks like actor Sam Asghari is still struggling to find his big break in Hollywood.

Earlier this year, he finished filming a small role in the Paramount+ series “Special Ops: Lioness.” However, the red carpet event was canceled due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which is still ongoing amid his divorce from 41-year-old pop star Britney Spears.

Although the 29-year-old actor is still looking for his big break, sources confirm that he is “jobless” as the strike continues.

On Tuesday, August 29, one insider told Page Six that the former personal trainer was “unemployed” and “still looking for his big break” amid both the divorce and the SAG-AFTRA strike.

“He’s jobless,” the insider said. “He doesn’t have any acting gigs lined up at the moment.” They noted that his only upcoming project, “Grand Death Lotto,” directed by Paul Feig, finished filming a few weeks before the strike began.

Only one day before, sources told TMZ that the former personal trainer has no plans to keep working at Royal Personal Training in Los Angeles, which is where he worked when he was cast in the pop star’s “Slumber Party” music video in 2016. He started dating Britney soon after.

Insiders told the outlet on Monday that he wants to continue his career as a character actor and maybe even score a few TV hosting jobs as well. Unfortunately, with the writer’s strike and the SAG-AFTRA strike, there is little going on at the moment and it’s unclear what he plans to do until the strike ends.

It seems that Sam won’t have to worry about money for a little bit yet, as the “Toxic” singer is actually the one paying his rent. On Tuesday, August 22, a source told Page Six that the actor had moved into the Ten Thousand building in Los Angeles. The 40-story building contains 283 units and amenities like a lap pool, a private park, and private doctors that provide services ranging from treating the common cold to providing Botox injections.

Rents cost from $10,000 to $65,000 a month, but TMZ reported that Sam had actually managed to get an upgraded apartment for the price of a standard unit. They also confirmed that it is really Britney who is paying $10,000 a month for his rent amid the divorce.

On August 16, Sam officially filed for divorce according to court documents obtained by The Blast, but recorded the date of separation as July 28, 2023, so it appears that they had already been living separately prior to the divorce. In the court filing, he also requested both spousal support and attorney’s fees. He also seemed set to contest the prenup.

In the divorce filing, Sam wrote: “Petitioner has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party. There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to Petitioner at this time.”

A few hours after he filed for divorce,  a source told Page Six that the actor was “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”

The following day, a rep for the actor, Brandon Cohen, told The Hollywood Reporter that Sam had no intention of challenging the prenup. “There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos,” his rep told THR. “However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her.”

TMZ has since reported that the actor will get “no payout” from the divorce and that the prenup precludes him from getting spousal support, even though he requested it in the divorce filing. He will still get to keep his car collection and any gifts that Britney gave him during the divorce.

Last week, the couple also settled the custody dispute over their five dogs. A day later, Britney announced that she had adopted a new puppy named Snow.
