Sandra Bullock Is 'Grateful' For Support After Her Partner's Passing
Sandra Bullock has expressed her gratitude for the support she's received after her long-term partner, Bryan Randall, passed on August 5 following a long three-year battle with ALS.
A source revealed to People magazine that Bullock appreciates the kindness shown in his memory.
"It was very important to her that when she and his family made the initial statement of Bryan's passing, those who were on this journey with her and Bryan, from the beginning, were recognized — with the Healey Center at Mass General leading the way," the insider said.
They also revealed that the "Ocean's 8" actress finds solace in the positive impact emerging from the heartbreak, adding, "She is so grateful to all those who have donated and is happy that out of something so heartbreaking came something so positive for others."
In a previous chat with the news outlet, Randall's family said that the 57-year-old photographer "chose early to keep his journey with ALS private, and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request."
Sandra Bullock Says Bryan Randall Is The 'Love Of My Life'
Randall and Bullock crossed paths in 2015, and while speaking on the "Red Table Talk" in December 2021, the Academy Award-winning actress referred to her late partner as the "love of my life."
Bullock highlighted that marriage wasn't a necessity for a strong bond, sharing, "I don't wanna say do it like I do it, but I don't need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother."
She emphasized her commitment to being present during challenging times, adding, "I don't need to be told to be ever present in the hardest of times. I don't need to be told to weather a storm with a good man."
Sandra Bullock Praises Bryan Randall For Being A 'Great Example'
In the same "Red Table Talk" episode, Bullock praised Randall as a positive influence on her kids. She noted their differing viewpoints due to his strong Christian beliefs but appreciated his example, even when they didn't see eye-to-eye.
"He's the example that I would want my children to have. I have a partner who's very Christian and there are two different ways of looking at things. I don't always agree with him, and he doesn't always agree with me. But he is an example even when I don't agree with him," she said.
The ALS Association Received $50,000 From Donors In Honor Of Bryan Randall
After his passing, Randall's family, instead of flowers, requested donations to be directed to the ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital.
In a statement, per People, the ALS Association spokesperson noted, "an additional $50,000 raised from donors in honor of Bryan and an increase of over 100,000 new visitors to our website."
They expressed gratitude for the contributions and extended support to both Bullock and Randall's family, adding, "We are grateful for everyone who has donated, and our hearts are with Sandra and Bryan's family. We still need support to make ALS livable for everyone, everywhere, until we can cure it."
The Randall family's statement also conveyed their gratitude to dedicated doctors and nurses who stood by them through the challenges of ALS. "We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours," the statement read.
It concluded by asking for "privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan."
