Diplo has revealed that his “biggest supporter” his mom has passed awayand it’s like a “punch” to the “gut”.
Diplo Is Going Through It
The musician shared on Twitter that his mom has been called up to heaven. The sad news was backed by an emotional tribute from Diplo. He writes, “My momma just passed away. i would trade a kidney to take away the cosmic gut punch I feel right now.”
The post continues. “I cried in the airport bathroom I made small puddle and then almost slipped . Now i’m gonna walk into the ocean and look for a shark to fight, might be the only cure for grief.”
The sad realization of how much Diplo is going through is rough. He speaks highly of his momma, “She was my first and purest love. I hope someone will make me feel safe like you always did 🩵.”
Diplo’s Mom Was So Cool
The music producer shared a photo of himself and his mom in the family kitchen goofing around. She pauses to smile for the pic and he smiles at her.
“My mom was a devout supporter of my music. She was always on MySpace as djmom and a lot of my friends had her in their top 16 cause she always posted positive messages and loved that I was happy making music ..”
He reveals his mom’s health was not the best. “She followed me and every project and I always made her a double XXL shirt of my new album. She was restricted to a chair and oxygen tank the past ten years but I lit up her life every time I would come home ..”
While he is grieving and still processing Diplo shared one of the last interactions he had with his mom. “Even two days ago she posted hearts on my page. I’m glad she got to see me create and grow and be just a little bit successful. she gave me so much confidence even when I was broke and feeling lost.”
Nothing Like A Mum’s Love
The DJ’s reveal received an outpouring of support from his fans and friends as he revealed in another post on Instagram that the loss of his sister in July was a blessing in a way.
“My sister died in July and I think she brought our family together more than we have ever been. My mom was suffering a lot in her soul but also her body was fighting a fight she wasn't going to win. Momma knew me and my dad & my sister Kelly are ok.”
He shared that she was surrounded by family and his dad held onto her. “My dad held her hand at the last breath 🤍 They been married since high school. We are safe but she needed to be with my sister Amy somewhere better. I miss you Barbara Jean, you were the brightest light in my life, I just had a ten-minute cry in the bathroom at CDG airport sorry to the Janitor.”
