Ja Morant's father recently broke his silence about his son's gun trouble from earlier this year.
Tee Morant opened up about the topic of the choices his son made that got him suspended not once, but twice, from the NBA at the Up Next Elite Camp in New Orleans.
Tee Morant Openly Shared His Thoughts On Son Ja Morant's Gun Trouble
While many people have blamed Ja's circle of friends for his recent gun issues, his father Tee isn't going that route.
"I'm coming from, speaking for my son, like make sure anytime, anywhere, know the capabilities of everybody around you," he said. "My son didn't get in trouble for the people around him. He got in trouble for his decisions. So always be mindful of every decision y'all are making, because it could pretty much, take over you and can consume you and make you think that you're who you're not."
He continued to explain the importance of thinking that everything is looking at you magnified and that the "smallest thing you can do can make the biggest difference in your life."
Tee concluded his talk by telling everyone to "make the right decision."
New Orleans Pelican content manager Rel Myers shared Tee's speech on X, formerly Twitter.
“My son didn’t get in trouble cause of people around him. He got in trouble because of his decisions.”

Official NBA Buzz shared the video of Tee talking about Ja on Instagram and many fans shared their thoughts in the comment section.
"Takes a man to admit his son did wrong and not blindly stick by him," one fan wrote. Another said, "A lot of people are saying 'but it is the people around him' forgetting that he chooses those people just as much as he makes those decisions. Tee is 100 on this."
One fan appreciated Tee sharing some wise words. "Finally His Pops is speaking Wisdom in the air! Love it! We need your son on the Court not in Court! God Bless The Family and much success to your son and @memgrizz"
Many other comments also offered positive thoughts and hope that things will turn around for the Memphis Grizzlies star.
Ja Morant Is Currently Suspended For 25 Games Following His Second IG Live Gun Incident
After flashing a gun in an IG Live in May, Ja was suspended for 25 games in the 2023-24 NBA season. Since the season's schedule was just released, Ja, the Grizzlies, and fans now have a better idea when he will become eligible to get back on the court after his suspension. The team's 26th game of the season falls on December 19 against the Pelicans and will be nationally televised.
After the May incident, which was the second of its kind for Ja this year, the NBA star issued a statement taking accountability for his actions and promising to be more responsible moving forward.
"I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do," Ja said in a statement. "My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my action. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself."
