Former First Lady Michelle Obama has reached out to her fellow former First Lady Rosalynn Carter to wish her a 'Happy Birthday!'

Mrs. Carter is the wife of former President Jimmy Carter, who served one term in office from 1977 until 1981. President Carter has been receiving hospice care since earlier this winter. He is currently the oldest living President of the United States!

Mrs. Carter Is Celebrating Her 98th Birthday!

August 18th, 2023 marks Mrs. Carter's 96th birthday! The former First Lady is reportedly celebrating her big day alongside her husband.

The Carter Center revealed to the AP News that the couple will have "a quiet birthday celebration," which is set to include cupcakes and peanut butter ice cream!

Mrs. Carter is also planning to release butterflies in the couple's garden, per NBC News. The outlet also reports Mrs. Carter's extended family and friends plan to do the same in Georgia.

The former First Lady has been privately living with dementia. The Carter Family announced her diagnosis earlier this spring, but did not elaborate.

 Michelle Obama Commemorates Mrs. Carter's Birthday!

Former First Lady Michelle Obama took to her Instagram on Friday morning to share birthday wishes to the former First Lady. Mrs. Obama shared a photo of the duo photographed together with the current First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden.

Mrs. Obama wrote, "Wishing Rosalynn Carter a wonderful 96th birthday! You’ve been a source of inspiration for so many people around the world, including me. Thank you so much for your service to our country."

Many of Mrs. Obama's followers were on hand to help commemorate Mrs. Carter's birthday in the comment section!

"❤️❤️❤️ happy birthday Mrs. Roselyn Carter ??? we love you ?," a fan commented.

"Happy Birthday! Thank you for being a classy First Lady like Michelle and Jill!❤️ Enjoy your special day!??♌️," another wrote.

"3 great ladies!! Class and intelligence," another follower chimed in.

"Each of you are accomplished beautiful ladies who make us proud. Thank you to each of you for your service to our nation," a follower wrote.

"She has always been one of my heroes!," another fan commented.
