'DWTS' Emma Slater Talks Impasse That led To Divorce From Sasha Farber

Emma Slater has spoken candidly about her divorce from Sasha Farber.

The 34-year-old recently asserted that the breakdown of her marriage to the "Dancing with the Stars" professional had nothing to do with him but with the timing of welcoming children. The couple has been in the headlines since they separated in April 2022 and Slater filed for divorce in February 2023.

During her appearance on Tuesday's edition of the "Viall Files" podcast, Slater asserted that a major factor contributing to the breakup between her and her former partner was the difference in their timelines for starting a family. Explaining that even though they still felt love for each other, she told Nick Viall:

"We're still like family, so it isn't really like the love is not there, it's actually not that at all. We're just at potentially two different places. But the hard part was that the love actually didn't go [away]."

As she told it, the reason for their divorce came down to one thing — having kids. In the words of the "Mamma Mia" star, "It's really the kid thing. It's interesting because I do want to have kids, I just don't want to delay Sasha's path in having kids because I know that he is ready for that. I don't want to talk about him too much because that's really for him to say, but it's about kids."

Emphasizing that she truly wanted children, the "Dancing with the South African Stars" performer stated, "I don't know what it is, I'm just figuring that out for myself. It's not something I take lightly and I don't want to enter into something that I'm not sure about because I would never do that."

Slater elaborated that she and Farber had talked about family planning throughout their relationship but she felt a noticeable "resistance" in the period before their eventual separation.

"So, that's been the real friction and the real hard part. It had nothing to do with him. He's always been very much himself. It's me that's found it difficult to understand why I'm feeling different," she detailed further.

As for when she intends to start her family, the "Simply Ballroom" principal dancer declared that she is still kind of figuring out" the timing. "The situation has been very much me kind of feeling a resistance in life and not knowing what that is and why I'm feeling it, and then coming to terms with that in the last few years." Slater said.

The "Cuban Groove" dance captain and the Australian-American professional dancer had exchanged vows in 2018 after getting engaged during a live taping of "Dancing with the Stars" in October 2016.

Shortly after the news of their separation broke last year, a mutual friend of the now-former lovebirds reportedly claimed "Emma and Sasha still remain close. There's no bad blood between them."

An insider's alleged words proved to be true last month when Farber and Slater visited the happiest place on earth together. The Blast noted that the English-American posted a carousel of photos from her and her ex's visit to Walt Disney World.

Even though they knew that the former couple were there for the "Dance the World" event, one fan still commented, "I was hoping they were together again. They look so good together and it seems like they're in good terms ?‍♀️."

Another fan wrote, "Love seeing you with Sasha!?," as a third netizen gushed, "Oh how I pray you and Sasha would reconcile the love you have for one another!! ❤️"

"SO GLAD TO SEE YOU WITH SASHA ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️," a fourth similarly chipped in. Since young aspiring dancers were spellbound by her teaching and talent in a dance class held at the "Dance the World" shindig, one of her students expressed:

"You are so amazing I loved meeting you, you taught me so many things in the master class and I developed a new love for that style of dance!! ??."

Slater's good mood later heightened when she and Farber were joined by "Dancing With the Stars" pro Witney Carson, her husband Carson McAllister, and their two kids — Leo and Jet.  She posted a glowing review of the occurrence on Instagram, writing:

"My week at @waltdisneyworld so far ?? these kids were AMAZING!! and I met Jet for the first time!!!! ??."
