Pink Shows Support For Britney Spears Amid Sam Asghari Split

SingerPink is showing her support for Britney Spears at a recent show amid her divorce from Iranian actor Sam Asghari.

The 29-year-old actor filed for divorce from the 41-year-old pop star on Wednesday citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split, although he listed the date of separation as July 28, 2023, in the divorce filing obtained by The Blast. In addition to asking for spousal support and attorney's fees, there are also rumors that he plans on challenging the prenup.

Fans have been vocal about supporting the pop star on social media, but Pink, who once described herself as a "very protective" big sister to the Princess of Pop, made her own public show of support at a recent tour stop.

During a tour stop of her Summer Carnival tour in Detroit, Michigan, Pink, whose birth name is Alecia Beth Moore, changed one of her lyrics in order to support the “Toxic” singer amid her divorce from the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor.

As the Instagram video shows, when Pink performed her 2001 hit song "Don’t Let Me Get Me,” she changed the line “Tired of being compared to d*mn Britney Spears” to “sweet Britney Spears” instead. Many fans showed their support in the comments, with one fan writing, “Aww, that’s the kind of support she needs” alongside three red heart emojis.

“Pink is always so supportive of Britney. I hope one day they can collab,” another follower wrote. “Love this! People need to give her grace. This poor human can only take so much!” a third fan chimed in. “So awesome! I love Pink even more for doing that!!” another follower exclaimed. "One of the many reasons I have and will forever love Pink. She is a gem," another fan shared as her followers continued to show their love for "women supporting women."

In February 2023, Pink said that she felt like a “very protective” big sister to the pop star in an interview with People magazine. "People think I was picking on Britney on 'Don't Let Me Get Me,' but I've always felt like a big sister to her," Pink said at the time. "I'm very protective of her, and she's the sweetest person in the world." Although she admitted that the two had not kept in touch, she went on to say, “I wish her well. I cover her in light all day long.”

On Thursday, new reports surfaced alleging that Britney had gotten violent with Sam and had given him a black eye while he was sleeping. Another report claimed that the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor decided to walk away from the marriage after he obtained footage of her in a "compromising position" with an employee who worked in the home.

However, there has been an outpouring of support for the pop star despite the allegations. On Wednesday night, a source had told Page Six that the actor was reportedly “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”

On Thursday night, a rep for the actor, Brandon Cohen, told The Hollywood Reporter that Sam had no intention of challenging the prenup. “There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos,” his rep told the outlet.  “However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her.”

Sam Asghari also took to Instagram on Thursday to address the split in a short statement. “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always,” he wrote. “Sh*t happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”

Britney Spears has yet to comment on the split on social media; however, she did express her intentions to buy a horse shortly after news of the divorce broke on Wednesday night.
