Actor Sam Asghari is requesting spousal support from Britney Spears in his divorce filing.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the Iranian actor is pulling the plug on their 14-month marriage, listing their date of separation as July 28, 2023.
Sam Asghari Demands Spousal Support, Attorneys Fees From Britney Spears Amid Divorce
On Wednesday, August 16, Sam Asghari and Britney Spears began trending on social media amid news that they were separating. Only a few hours later, news broke that the two had officially gone their separate ways when the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor filed for divorce. Sam cited “irreconcilable differences” as a reason for their split and demanded both spousal support and attorneys fees.
The former personal trainer, who is being represented by attorney Neal Hersh, seems ready to contest the prenup that was created with the aid of Britney’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, before the two officially tied the knot in June 2022 after six years of dating.
According to the court documents, the actor “has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party.” It goes on to say, “There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time.”
Sam Plans To Leak 'Extraordinarily Embarrassing Information' About Britney Unless His Demands Are Met
Although there have been reports of marriage trouble brewing for a while, a source told TMZ on Wednesday afternoon that the two had split over alleged infidelity. Sam reportedly moved out of the house amid claims that the pop star had been unfaithful to him. However, these allegations have not been confirmed.
It seems that Sam believes them, however, as he seems determined to try to renegotiate the prenup. On Wednesday night, a source told Page Six that the 29-year-old actor is reportedly “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”
They said that Sam is "focused" on getting "paid," although a separate source confirmed to Page Six that “Britney and Sam signed a prenup in her favor,” adding, “Any money she made before the wedding is protected.” The outlet later confirmed that Britney had hired high-power divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to represent her and protect her assets amid the split.
Britney Spears Seems Unconcerned About A Possible Settlement
It seems unlikely that a judge would invalidate the prenup, but it is possible that Britney would agree to a settlement just to put the matter behind her. Earlier this summer, she shared a few photos of her vacation in Mexico. One of which featured her riding on a horse in a yellow bikini top and black shorts.
It was that photograph that Britney shared on Instagram shortly after the news of her divorce broke; however, she seemed unconcerned by the split. "Buying a horse soon 🐴 !!! So many options it’s kinda hard !!! A horse called Sophie and another called Roar 🐎 ??? I can’t make up my mind 🙈 !!!" she wrote in the caption. "Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on 😜 ??? Either way I think I found my sweet spot with Roar 😘 !!!"
Britney Is 'Adamant' That She Did Not Cheat On Sam Asghari
Britney might seem unconcerned with the allegations of her cheating because she knows she is innocent. A source told ET on Wednesday night that Britney is “adamant she didn’t cheat,” adding, “The two haven’t gotten along for a while and it finally came to an end after a major blowup.”
“She has been denying any cheating allegations and going through a lot of emotions,” the source told the outlet. “She is hurt because the situation brings up old feelings for her. This is the last thing she needed, especially after her boys moved to Hawaii, being worried about the fires there, and so on.”
On August 1, her ex-husband Kevin Federline moved her two teenage sons, Sean Preston Federline, 17, and Jayden James Federline, 16, to Hawaii. Fortunately, they are not living on Maui and are reported to be safe from the wildfires currently devastating the island.
