For many people like Cheryl Burke, there is always that plan B when it comes to career options!

The 39-year-old has been a dancer for more than half of her life, notably on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," "Dance Moms," and "I Can Do That." Even though performing on the long-running ABC series is off her books, the gag is that the pro dancer once thought of a life outside dance.

Cheryl Burke Could Have Had A Sport Career

In a new update on her IG Story, the 39-year-old TV star revealed that she would have followed through with a Tennis career if she didn't pursue dancing. She wrote, "Always said that if I didn't pursue dancing. I would've been a tennis player ha!"

As if to brag, the television host encircled the message with a throwback picture of her much younger self on a tennis court. Like a pro, she held a tennis rack while donning a white visor with white shirts, socks, and shorts.

Burke's lighthearted announcement — or might we say show off — comes about nine months after she announced her departure from the renowned dance competition series as a professional dancer.

She has been a fixture on 26 seasons of the show concurrently, following her season two debut on January 5, 2006. The news came after the season 31 finale, throwing fans into a spirited state. But without fail, they lauded the dancer's hard work and dedication to giving viewers a good time.

The model shared the statement using a snap of her in a gorgeous red ball gown. She appeared to be dancing, with one hand raised above her head and the other turned to show the elbow. The catchy image was followed by an extended caption that read:

"I am sitting here full of so many conflicting emotions about the words I am about to write… Tomorrow night will officially be my final dance as a pro dancer on @dancingwiththestars. This has been one of the absolute hardest decisions of my life & I am also confident that it is the right one."

"The cast, crew & fans have seen me through my highest highs & some of my lowest lows, & I honestly don't know who I would be today without them," the two-time "DWTS" winner wrote, admitting that the show has been a second family.

Burke also articulated that this was the perfect time to start the "next phase" of her career, even though dance would "always be a part" of her. Then she dedicated her last dance "to all of YOU that have supported me, loved me even if you didn't know me, & who has been such a huge part of my life, my growth, & my story."

Per reports, fans surged her comments with compliments and accolades. "You are such a shining star, Cheryl xoxo," one ecstatic fan commented, while another person thanked her for "helping shape DWTS into the amazing show that it is."

A fifth fan echoed, "You are a legend!!! What a pleasure it's been to see you dance your heart out all these years. You have a heart of gold. Miss your face!"

After The Dance Came The Show

Burke has now transitioned into hosting her show "Diving Deep" since leaving the beloved dance competition series. Earlier this year, she revealed how the unique and exciting content came about. She took to her Instagram page to do the explaining. The lengthy caption began:

"I am absolutely overwhelmed with the amount of love and excitement about Diving Deep. It means the world to me!"

The entrepreneur added that the show began during the COVID-19 lockdown when she explored and found diamond painting. She continued saying, "The competitive ballroom dancer in me saw that rhinestones were involved, and it was love at first sight."

In addition, the "I Can Do That" runner-up revealed that it was initially named "All That Glitters." She explained that she looked forward to each week's show as she learned something new about each friend. About the goal, Burke wrote, "For once in my life, it isn't about the end goal, it is about the present time, the here and now."
