Dyrdek shared an Instagram Story explaining that one year ago she learned she was autistic. While her formal diagnosis didn't come until a few months later, she celebrates the day she knew.

"A year ago today I learned I'm autistic. I wasn't formally diagnosed until last December but I'll always celebrate August 13th as my anniversary because 'I' knew," she wrote.

"Every day for the last 365 days I've replayed the last 3 decades of my life...my heart has broken and healed and broken again and learned how to heal again every day since I learned I was robbed of a life that's authentic to my true existence."

She continued to explain that the past year was the "hardest year" of her life but she also is grateful for it.

"I went to war with the world for my current self, younger self, future self and family, my circle got smaller, my tolerance for people still expecting me to accommodate their neurotypical preferences has gotten smaller too," she continued.

"I've loved younger me more than anyone ever could. I re-prioritized my self-care, became an even better mom, wife, person and I know the journey ahead is still a long and hard one, but I'm more ready now than I've ever been and can't wait to see what the next year has in store."

Bryiana Dyrdek Revealed She Was Diagnosed With Autism Earlier This Year

Earlier this year, Dyrdek opened up about her diagnosis in an Instagram post.

"For 31 years everyone thought she was perfectly fine. A little weird and too old to be such a picky eater and so princess-y, entirely too dependent on schedules, structure and systems, and rigid in her black and white thinking, but all things considered, they passed as personality flaws rather than what they really were because in the early 90's girls were not diagnosed autistic," she wrote on a slide in a carousel on Instagram.

"I was only formally diagnosed with ASD in December 2022 so I'm still new to this journey and have three decades of learning, unlearning and re-learning to do, so I ask for your patience and grace as I go down this new path to rediscover myself, the me I was always meant to be."

Dyrdek captioned her carousel of photos explaining her diagnosis, "After a few months of privately processing my autism diagnosis, I decided to come out about it because the little girl in the last slide deserved better. 👑⁣ I’ve finally reached the acceptance phase of my late diagnosis and am filled with more hope and peace than ever before. So if you see me acting different, it’s because I am 🦄."

Her husband Rob dropped into the comments to leave some words of love and support. "💖💖💖💖💖Brave, Beautiful and truly special. You are a gift to this world. You have always been perfect and always will be. Love you so much. 💖💖💖💖💖💖"

Many others also left comments of support and shared their stories.

"YES!!!! Same, mama! Same! 💖 I’m 31 and have recently been diagnosed with ADHD and even more recently, Autism. I don’t know if I would’ve ever figured it out if my son wasn’t autistic. Doesn’t life just make sense now that you know? It’s a chaotic kind of peaceful lol," one person wrote.

Another added, "This is amazing! Going through the same thing ❤️ #unmasking."

"My daughter got a 'late' diagnosis when she was 15 in high school. I remember crying feeling like I had let her down somehow because I didn't see the signs before that. Other people kept asking me but how did you miss it and made me feel worse. I completely immersed myself into helping her 'catch up'. It's amazing how well girls / women mask and adapt to their environment. My daughter is now college, working and living life on her terms! ❤️," a mom wrote in the comments.

Another person shared, "I’m really sorry that the closest people to you didn’t support you and you were hurt by that 💖 I’ve been following you for awhile and I would have never guessed! You’re just you and you’re fabulous! I envy your ambition, structure, your sweet and caring nature, the way you love and do anything for your family. Don’t let any one rain on your sparkly parade! ✨"
