Ice-T Likens His Family And Parenting To 'The Osbournes'

Ice-T is opening up about his and wife of more than two decades, Coco Austin's unconventional approach to raising their 7-year-old daughter, Chanel.

One could find a short list of names in Hollywood if you are looking for regular and customary parenting, but to save your time on looking for the rapper and his wife's name on that inventory. 

The father of three, including son Tracy Marrow Jr., 31, and 47-year-old daughter LeTesha Morrow from his previous relationships and his youngest daughter with Coco, recently owned up to parenting a little "different than normal." 

The "I'm Your Pusher" rapper addressed his and the swimsuit model's parenting style, which has been making headlines for controversial reasons. In an interview with PEOPLE, the actor talked about the unique nature of his family when he said:

"We do our parenting, I think the thing of it is; it's Ice-T and Coco. Our parenting is a lot different than the normal, square couple from Oklahoma. I'm a f---ing rock star; it's different."

He equated their child-rearing style to a famous pop culture family, saying, "We're like the Osbournes. We have a different dynamic in our house. But it's not harmful. That's the main thing. It's us."

Also, the "Law & Order: SVU" star brushed off criticisms of their parenting, admitting that he and Austin don't let it get to them. In the proud father's words:

"You got to remember this: for anything, anybody says about me and Coco, there's a million billion people that are like f--- that. So are you gonna listen to the negative? I always say you're insulated by love. You got so many people out there that love you. You can't pay attention to the idiots, you know? So none of that affects us and you can tell."

During a previous appearance on the "That Moment with Daymond John" podcast, the "Once Upon a Time in Brooklyn," actor spilled more details about his fondness for his 7-year-old, who still shares the same bed with her parents. 

"I was there when Coco was pregnant, I went to the hospital, and Chanel still sleeps in the bed with us," he said before adding, "So I'm much more connected to her than my other kids. But it's been a beautiful thing."

In his interview with Daymond John, the "Dear God Can You Hear Me" hip-hop artist talked about the circumstances surrounding having Chanel with his two older children.

"I think the difference with Chanel and my other kids is I'm very conscious of this baby," he noted and then said, "I had my daughter when I was in high school, I was ripping and running, so it was presented over presence. I wasn't there."

"My son, Ice, happened right when I became Ice-T. I'd never been famous before, this was a whole new thing, so I was distracted by that. Chanel, I'm comfortable; I'm in a cruising pattern," Ice-T added.

In addition to that, the doting father revealed that the birth of his last child inspired him to change his respective on life as he grew and became a better man. the "Pimp or Die" rapper said:

"It made me want to live forever, it made me create new goals 'cause you got bread, you could start slowing down. But Nah, not that new baby. It's the best gift I could ever get."

Although the "New Jack City" actor couldn't deny his baby girl anything in this world, he revealed that he and his wife had no plans to give her a sibling as they were "one and done." 

During an interview with E! News, Ice-T cited his age as a factor in the decision-making. "I had Chanel when I was 57. So I'm 65.," he shared before adding that Austin "didn't want to have kids until she was 30."

In 2018, the mother of one also admitted to the publication that they were both content with their family size. "The way we travel is so extremely hard. Honestly, I think our life fits one child only," the reality star echoed.

She continued, "I don't think Chanel would like a baby sister or a baby brother. She gets jealous! Chanel gets jealous of other kids. It's so weird because Chanel still breastfeeds, she still nurses…every time I hold a baby and the baby is close to my boob, she goes, 'My boob!'"
