Tory Lanez Says He Is Not Sorry For Shooting Megan Thee Stallion Despite Conviction

Tory Lanez might have been found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, but he's sticking to his story of being wrongfully convicted. In a lengthy statement, Lanez claimed he's not sorry and will not stop fighting even from prison.

Lanez took to Instagram just ago and addressed all his fans, whom he calls "the Umbrellas" as he reiterated, in a near rap, "I have never let a hard time intimidate me. I will never never let no jail time eliminate me."

Lanez continued to say, "Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will. This week in court I took responsibility for all verbal and intimate moments that I shared with the parties involved… that’s it."

He did not name Megan Thee  Stallion in any way but did firmly state, "In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of. I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do."

Despite his "not guilty" stance, the Canadian rapper was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was found guilty of shooting hip-hop superstar Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, shot Megan, (legal name is Megan Pete) after a party at the Hollywood Hills home of reality star and makeup mogul Kylie Jenner on July 12, 2020.

Given his letter to his fans, clearly, the battle is hardly over. Lanez did say in his letter that he would keep fighting till he came out victorious and this is hardly the first time where he's faced adversity and has his "back against the wall."

Strangely enough, when the rapper addressed the court earlier this week, in an orange jumpsuit, he sang a different tune. Right before the judge handed down his sentence, Tory Lanez apologized for his actions and said he took full responsibility for the 2020 shooting.

Lanez addressed the court on Tuesday before Judge David Herriford pronounced the sentence, asking for leniency, "I’m standing in front of you as a father to a six-year-old who needs me every step of the way. There’s been this misconception about me being this monster, not having remorse, that’s just not true,” he said.

“That night, everyone was drunk, I said things I shouldn’t have said. The victim was my friend, I still care about her. We both lost mothers, we’d sit there and drink until we felt numb. If I could change it, I would, but I can’t. Everything I did that night, I take full responsibility.” Finally, he added. “I truly am just trying to be a better person.”

The 10-year sentence seemed to take Lanez by surprise although he remained mum. That said, the mother of his son sobbed as she was led out of the courtroom.

Last December, a jury convicted Lanez of three felony charges: assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford did not find the 10-year sentence all that easy. He said it was “difficult to reconcile” the doting father and committed philanthropist Tory Lanez was described, as the same person who shot a defenseless woman.

Said the judge, "Sometimes good people do bad things. Actions have consequences, and there are no winners in this case."

That said, Megan Thee Stallion faced not just the shooting and the subsequent injuries but has been character assassinated ever since the case came to light by Lanez's legal team as well as the media.

While she was absent for the sentencing, the prosecutors read out a pre-written statement on her behalf in court, which read, "I struggle with being present. After everything that occurred, I cannot bring myself back to being in the same room with Tory. He paid bloggers to disseminate false information; he treated my trauma like a joke when I could’ve been dead. He blamed the system, he blamed the press, and as of late he is using his childhood trauma to justify his actions."

Post the sentence, an overjoyed Deputy District Attorney Alex Bott said he felt like "the man of the year" after the sentencing, reminding the press that Lanez called Megan a liar, intimidated her, and harassed her.

Meanwhile, Matthew Barhoma, a member of Lanez’s legal team, said appeals for both the sentence and the conviction are planned. The team will also file for bail when it appeals the sentence.
