Welcoming two kids for one of the world's wealthiest men is a concerning subject for Grimes! The sensational songstress recently opened up about her relationship with Elon Musk and their children.
When the Canadian beauty and the renowned businessman debuted their relationship in 2018, many were surprised by their unique pairing. However, the duo surprisingly built a long-lasting bond that transcended their on-and-off romance.
Although the pair are no longer intimate, they remain close friends and co-parents. While their children may receive the best privileges thanks to their father's wealth, the "Oblivion" hitmaker wants her babies to have a different upbringing.
Grimes Wants Her Kids To Avoid The 'Pretty Intense' Life Of Being Elon Musk's Children
During a new interview with WIRED, the 35-year-old entertainer got candid about her life as a mother and what the future holds for her children. Sharing the joys of motherhood, the 4-time Juno Award recipient stated it had changed her perspective and artistry.
"Motherhood made me a lot more optimistic. I was not super focused before. It was just, what sounds cool, what feels cool," the media personality confessed. "Now I feel a social responsibility with my art—to make future-optimistic art."
Grimes then explained, "Not a lot of people are doing that. People have a very dire vision of the future because it’s easy and fun to write about cyberpunk dystopias," before crediting her children for influencing the positive changes in her career.
"Seeing my kids makes me pathologically optimistic. It’s a life mission," the Canadian singer added. Given the 35-year-old's love for her children, it was not surprising the doting mother of two had concerns about her little angels growing up privileged.
When asked about this matter, the "Genesis" artist revealed she was worried about the impact of Musk's wealth on their children. "A little bit. I think their life is gonna be pretty intense. Being Elon’s kid is not the same as being anyone’s kid," the Webby Award winner said of her troubles.
Although she cannot erase the power of being the business magnate's offspring, Grimes plans on keeping her children grounded with her down-to-earth parenting. "In my house, at least, I want it to be more of a crazy warehouse situation and a cool art space," the entertainer shared.
It appears the "Shinigami Eyes" songstress had good reason to be a bit troubled about privileges affecting her children thanks to Musk's unprecedented parenting. Despite the former couple's son being three years old, the billionaire had introduced the boy to the business world.
The toddler, uniquely named X AE A-XII Musk, has been spotted joining his famous dad in business meetings and other activities. When asked if this was a "weird kind of protégé thing," the Canadian beauty replied: "I’m here for that. X knows a lot about rockets. It’s crazy. He knows more about rockets than me."
According to the NME Award nominee, her son differs from other kids his age given X's interest in rockets and engineering. "We had to stop giving him toys because if they’re not anatomically correct, he gets upset," Grimes revealed.
"He’s a little engineer, for sure. But his obsession with space is bordering on, 'Is this healthy?'" The "Oblivion" songstress lamented. Recalling an incident that traumatized the toddler, the media personality said:
"When X saw Starship blow up, he had, like, a three-day PTSD meltdown. Every hour, he was waking up and going, 'Starship …' and I had to rub his back."
Surprisingly X is not the only genius in the house as his little sister Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, nicknamed Y, also had unique interests. "She’s a little engineer too. She likes industrial shipping. She’s very strange," Grimes revealed.
The 'Cyberpunk 2077' Voice Actress Praised Her Ex For Being An Amazing Leader
The Canadian songstress and her ex-beau are well-known for their eccentric personalities. However, Grimes believes she has gained valuable knowledge from the business mogul. Singing her former boyfriend's praises, the record producer raved:
"I learned from him, like, the best internship ever. People don’t like talking about Elon, but it was incredible to be right there watching all that SpaceX stuff happen."
Grimes added, "That’s a master class in leadership and engineering and makes you understand how rare it is to have a leader of that quality." The "Alter Ego" judge's sweet comments did not impress the interviewer, who hinted at Musk's controversial Twitter takeover.
However, the mother of two defended the billionaire stating it was challenging to be a "great general and do something of that magnitude." She claimed the Boring Company founder had "an old-world kind of discipline" that offended those unable to withstand his "hardcore zone."
"If you’re not consenting to being in that hardcore zone, I get it. But he’s challenged me a lot. I learned a lot about running my own team and my own life. I’m now way tougher and smarter than I used to be," the record producer claimed.
