Arie Luyendyk Jr. Collaborated With Advance Auto Parts For A College Freshman Giveaway

Luyendyk recently had some time to sit down with The Blast to discuss the "Fuel Ride To College" giveaway, as well as his career and what new projects he has in the works.

The giveaway will award 10 incoming college freshman with free Shell gas throughout their four-year college experience.

"It's so awesome. I think for incoming freshman, two-thirds of them feel the financial strain of having to put gas in their tank so Advance Auto Parts has come up with a program to give 10 incoming freshman a full fuel ride, which means that all of their gas for their entire college experience is paid for with Shell gasoline," he explained exclusively to The Blast.

"I think it's really cool. I think for myself, if I was a college freshman, and someone was offering to pay for fuel I would head to that website so fast. I think it's pretty awesome."

It's super easy to participate in this contest. All you have to do is visit the website and register. Luyendyk said if he was a college student, he would absolutely register for a chance for free gas.

"I think the biggest thing for me is I remember back when I was a freshman and the most important thing to me was my car at that point," he said.

"I had just bought car after high school, I loved to drive around, but I commuted to college, I commuted to work, and so having a full tank of gas in a car that runs properly was like paramount. Such a cool program and with gas prices what they are today, I would jump on that in a second."

The giveaway isn't the only thing that college students should be aware of. Advance Auto Parts can also help get your car campus ready.

"You can go to any Advance Auto Parts and do a checkup for your car before school starts free of cost for any student. Free curb services are performed. They can get their windshield wipers looked at and make sure their battery is charged properly and all those kinds of small things that could put you on the side of the road," he said. "They do a lot of things for students."

Racecar driver, reality star, real estate agent...Luyendyk has had an exciting life. So, does he have a favorite career moment?

"I've been very lucky. I've had so many really cool experiences over the last 41 years, but I would say obviously the most favorite thing was meeting Lauren and building this life together that we have," he said.

"I think that's been the most rewarding and just something that completely changes you, becoming a parent and parenting together, so yeah, I would say that that is my biggest accomplishment. My 20s were filled with racing and traveling the world and I think to any young person that is kind of like the ideal life, but I feel like right now we're in a really good swing of things."

The last time he raced was last year in Nashville. And now he's about to embark on a new adventure - racing a sprint car.

"I am going to do my first ever sprint car race this year which I'm really excited about. It's gonna be in Vegas on December 2. A friend of mine who runs a sprint car team was like hey it's $50,000 for the winner and we're gonna put a good car together for you," he said.

"And I'm like I've never even driven a sprint car. I feel like I've driven everything; I've driven Indy cars, sportscars, off road, anything with four wheels, rally, so now it's like to race a sprint car which is a thousand horsepower, very small vehicle, very light vehicle, I think it's gonna be wild."
