A source revealed to the Daily Mail that McDermott firmly believes Spelling isn't financially struggling and is only opting for this living situation to gain "sympathy."

Insiders close to McDermott conveyed that he and Spelling's friends are genuinely taken aback by her choices. "They do not understand why she would be doing this unless for sympathy. She has money," the sources revealed.

Although hailing from a very wealthy Hollywood family and being the daughter of late TV icon Aaron Spelling, Tori has been plagued with financial struggles in her life. Despite her privileged upbringing and her earnings from reality TV, Tori once admitted in 2013 that she struggled to save money.

"Google thought I was worth fifteen million dollars," she revealed in her memoir, Spelling It Like It Is. "Fifteen million dollars! I didn't have one million."

"We had some income here and there, but no savings apart from our retirement accounts. I have a terrible habit of going into denial about my finances. I think that if I don't deal with it, then it's not real," Spelling added, per Page Six.
