Is Tom Cruise Eager To Rekindle Romance With Sofia Vergara?

Way back when Tom Cruise hadn't married Katie Holmes, he dated Sofia Vergara. Now that he's free, Shakira does not want him, and Vergara is also divorcing Joe Manganiello, Cruise may be looking for some loving, or so say sources. Here's the delicious scoop...

After the “Mission Impossible” star divorced Nicole Kidman, he and Sofia Vergara seemingly had a hookup, back in 2005. This was a brief flirtation before Cruise met Katie Holmes and the rest, as they say, is history, even if it’s not terribly pleasant.

A source recalls that Cruise, 61, and Vergara, 51, “do have that history already, even if it was more of a brief dalliance than a fully-fledged romance.”

As told to The Mirror, Cruise and Vergara “had a special time together partying in the Hollywood Hills and having a blast. Sofia wasn’t really giving out the signals back then that she wanted anything long-term, so it petered out in a totally amicable fashion and they remained friends.”

The insider further alleges, “It's always eaten away at Tom that he dumped Sofia and chose Katie.” Tom Cruise married Katie Holmes in 2006 and the two share a daughter, Suri, before things went South and she ended up getting a divorce in 2012. The cause of the split, as per Holmes was Cruise’s faith in Scientology, which might have played a role in Vergara and Cruise’s relationship as well. Scroll down to know more.

In the recent past, Tom Cruise has been linked, on and off, with his “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1” co-star Hayley Atwell, but now that the movie is out, so is that relationship, or so alleged sources.

He was also actively pursuing Shakira, it seems, after the pair met at the F1 Grand Prix in Miami earlier this year in May.

As reported by The Mirror, the “Top Gun” superstar was “absolutely mesmerized” with Shakira and tried to pursue her, despite the singer “begging” him to stop flirting with her.

A source claimed Cruise was “giddy” after spending some time with Shakira, in a manner similar to how he acted when he first believed Katie Holmes was the one. Remember him jumping on Oprah’s couch?

Shakira, though, was flattered but flat out not interested as the source said, “He came away convinced they had a real connection they needed to build on. She doesn’t want to embarrass or upset him, but there’s no attraction or romance on her part — she was just being friendly. She’s flattered but not interested.”

The same was seemingly conveyed to Cruise, who is not giving up on love and might now have zeroed in on Sofia Vergara. Not that we blame him!

For now, the source further alleges that the “Modern Family” actress "checks almost every box for Tom." Given that she’s beautiful and successful, Cruise allegedly feels that they could make the perfect Hollywood power couple.

As far as Vergara is concerned, she’s still working through her divorce with Joe Manganiello so it's unsure whether she wants to start a relationship so soon when the papers have not even been signed yet. She does look relaxed and ready to party, so that might be a good sign for Cruise. Further sources say that she’s being hit up by many Hollywood men sliding into her DMs, something she’s finding flattering.

As far as the last time Cruise was on this merry-go-round with Vergara, what decided her against the whole thing was Scientology itself. Since Cruise makes it a point to convert his wife to Scientology, renouncing their religion, Vergara allegedly balked.

As per InStyle Magazine, this was not something Sofía was willing to do, so she and Cruise split. Vergara’s friend reportedly said, "She was fundamentally terrified of Scientology. She sincerely believed that she would be struck down by God and burn in hell if she joined."

Then again Cruise is known to not shy away from a challenge. Especially when it's this pretty!
