It is all about the dollar bills for Pete Davidson! The comedian commemorated his return from rehab by diving into work, launching a series of sold-out shows.
The stand-up personality rose to fame as one of the stars of NBC's sketch comedy program "Saturday Night Live." Before leaving the show, the 29-year-old gained attention for his acting pursuits and sometimes controversial content.
The New Yorker recently raised concerns about his well-being following news of his admission to a rehabilitation facility. However, the "Bodies Bodies Bodies" actor surprisingly popped back on the grid with back-to-back comedy gigs lined up for Tuesday, August 1.
Pete Davidson Makes Grand Comeback To The Spotlight With Two Sold-out Shows In Florida
Weeks after the "Big Time Adolescence" star checked into a wellness center in late June, the entertainer went back to making people laugh. The media personality's subtle return to the spotlight generated a significant buzz among fans as they rushed the tickets for his new set of shows.
Insiders close to the comedian revealed that the 29-year-old is set to showcase his sensational skills at the Improv comedy theater in Dania in the Fort Lauderdale area of Florida. The entertainer has two sold-out performances scheduled for 7:30 and 10:00 pm.
Although the sources confirmed to TMZ that the "Bupkis" star left rehab, they did not share the date the New Yorker was discharged from the treatment facility. In late June, Davidson was admitted into the center after reportedly battling borderline personality disorder and PTSD.
Insiders claimed "The King of Staten Island" star had checked into the same Pennsylvania facility as his friend John Mulaney. The older comedian was previously admitted to rehab for drug and alcohol problems.
"Pete regularly goes to rehab for ‘tune ups’ and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening," a pal of the People's Choice Award nominee explained. A second source echoed similar sentiments, noting the TV personality's admission was no surprise.
"Anyone who knows Pete knows that he will always step up and get help when he knows he needs it. He has a lot of people in his corner who love him and support him and are proud of him," the informant claimed.
According to another insider, the 29-year-old's rehabilitation was necessary to support the stand-up comedian's recovery from trauma. Davidson lost his father during the 9/11 attacks. Addressing this incident, the source stated:
"He’s taking a well-deserved break so he can focus on himself and learn to better deal with his PTSD issues."
The 'Bupkis' Star Escaped Incarceration Following His Reckless Driving Case
News of the "Meet Cute" actor's mental health came months after the New Yorker crashed his car into the side of a Beverly Hills house. His girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, had been in the passenger seat during the accident.
The 29-year-old reportedly lost control of the vehicle, climbed a curb, and smashed into the side of a home. The collision left significant damage on the side of the property, destroying the lawn and leaving skid marks everywhere.
Fortunately, the couple escaped unharmed, but the former "SNL" star could have been fined $1,000 and lost his license for reckless driving. Further investigation by authorities revealed drugs and alcohol were not influencing factors in the accident.
Luckily, days before Davidson's lowkey exit from rehab, the comedian scored a massive victory in his reckless driving case. On July 19, the New Yorker's legal representatives negotiated a deal with prosecutors and the presiding judge to allow the 29-year-old to escape jail time.
In California, a pretrial diversion program could be obtained by first-time and non-violent offenders to avoid incarceration. Such cases were typically dismissed once the culprits could complete treatment and/or educational classes.
Regarding the comedian's case, a source revealed the judge had issued a diversion for “18 months,” where Davidson was “ordered to obey all laws and appear at the next hearing in a year.”
Additionally, the "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" actor would complete 50 hours of community service, which could be carried out in New York. He could also complete his sentence at the NYC Fire Department, where his late father worked.
To ensure he learned a valuable lesson about reckless driving, the comedian was ordered to visit a morgue for a gruesome reality check.
