The city of San Francisco is coming for Elon Musk and “X” formally known as Twitter after the company’s new sign goes up without permission.
Elon Musk Can’t Do What He Wants
The entrepreneur is currently focused on building up the “X” app and making it better than what Twitter was but, in the process, he seems to be stepping on people’s toes. By people, we mean the city of San Fran officials.
They have visited the headquarters twice since the sign went up on Friday. A notice of violation (NOV) was issued for work without a permit. Musk on the other hand is excited about the building and the sign that sits above it now.
He tweeted a video of the new building with the freshly plated sign of the “X” app. “Our HQ in San Francisco tonight,” he tweeted or is it “x-ed” now? Either way, he was prideful as the sign lit up the sky in that area.
The Complaint Is Made Public
The San Francisco city complaint was made public and reads:
“NOV issued for work without permit. Site visited by MH and spoke with Tweeter (sic) representatives and Building maintenance engineer representatives. I explained BID’s complaint investigation process and requested access to roof area. Tweeter (sic) representative decline to provide access but did explain that the structure is a temporary lighted sign for an event. I explained to all representatives that the NOV requires the structure to be remove with a building permit or legalize.”
The complaint goes on to say that more attempts to access the building on Saturday were made and they remained unsuccessful. A rep for the city spoke with the Washington Post that “to ensure consistency with the historic nature of the building and to ensure the new additions are safely attached to the sign,” a permit and approval is required.
Elon Musk Can Be Charged
On the city’s website, it states that a notice of violation can come with fees for the permit and for the investigation. They haven’t stated that Musk will definitely be charged but they have pointed out that it is a possibility.
Musk took to “X” to express his upset over the drama around the sign. In one tweet he writes, “He keeps calling the police about our sign modifications! 🤡.” He also made ti clear via another Tweet that he can move the office, he has options.
“Many have offered rich incentives for X (fka Twitter) to move its HQ out of San Francisco.
Moreover, the city is in a doom spiral with one company after another left or leaving.
Therefore, they expect X will move too. We will not. You only know who your real friends are when the chips are down. San Francisco, beautiful San Francisco, though others forsake you, we will always be your friend.”
He followed that tweet up with one that read, “Blaze Your Glory!!” Meanwhile, Musk said what he said and is currently in Canada for another business venture. That is how unbothered he is.
