Singer Britney Spears has no plans to see the two teenage boys she shares with her ex-husband Kevin Federline ahead of their move to Hawaii.
The former couple was married from 2004 to 2007 and shares two children together: Sean Preston Federline, 17, and Jayden James Federline, 16.
Britney Spears Will Not See Her Two Teenage Sons Before They Move to Hawaii
The "Hold Me Closer" singer has reportedly not seen her sons in about a year, even though the live in a nearby neighborhood. Unfortunately, it seems like it will be even longer before she has a chance to see them in-person again as they prepare to move to Hawaii.
On Monday, TMZ was the first to report that her two sons will move to Hawaii with their father and his current wife, Victoria Prince, without seeing their mother.
Victoria, a former volleyball player, was reportedly offered a job at the sports department in a university in Hawaii, which is what prompted the move.
Although fans had heard that the move would take place in August, it sounds like they are not waiting long. Sources told the outlet that the family plans to make the move on Tuesday, August 1.
However, it looks like the family has not secured a place to live yet. Sources say the couple plans to rent a residence on the island as they look for a permanent home.
As for Sean, it is unclear what his college plans are. Jayden still has one year of high school to finish up, which he will do remotely as the family continues to make headlines.
Britney's Lawyer Accuses K-Fed's Lawyer Of Creating 'Unnecessary Drama'
Earlier this year, Kevin Federline made headlines when his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, issued a public statement saying that K-Fed would be forced to seek a judge's approval to make the move, as Britney had yet to formally give her consent.
It is likely that a judge would have approved the move since the boys haven't seen their mother in over a year, but it ultimately wasn't necessary, as Britney eventually gave her legal consent to allow the move to take place.
Even so, her lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, was none too pleased that K-Fed's lawyer had made thr entire matter public. In fact, in a letter he sent to Rosengart (that was obtained by Page Six), Rosengart revealed that Britney had already been contacted about the move months before it made headlines and he hadn't anticipated a dispute over the move.
In his letter, Rosengart acknowledged that Sean Preston will turn 18 in September and "will no longer be a minor" a month after the move, adding that Jayden, 16, is also “nearing the age of maturity.”
"To her credit, Britney Spears will not interfere with and consents to the relocation," Rosengart wrote, adding that he “did not anticipate a dispute” when Kaplan first contacted him about the move. Instead, he claims that he urged Kaplan to keep the matter “private for the sake and dignity of all parties involved, including the children.”
“It was more than disappointing that you nevertheless chose to publicize this matter, creating unnecessary drama and a false ‘dispute’ by publicly discussing the issue and your letter,” Rosengart wrote. “When I called you yesterday to express my dismay that you had done so, you denied doing so. Apparently, you did not realize that [TMZ’s] May 30 story itself literally quotes you as the story’s source.”
Rosengart said that Kaplan "served no good faith purpose" in running to the press with the story, slamming the move as "undignified, ungracious, and unnecessary."
Rosengart ended his letter by calling the "Toxic" singer “an icon, loved and respected by millions throughout the world,” as well as a “loving and supportive mother, faithfully supporting” her two teenage sons despite their estrangement.
It remains unclear how much time Britney will devote to her relationship with her children or her ex-husband in her new memoir, "The Woman In Me" which hits bookshelves this October.
Fans are optimistic that the pop star is making a career comeback, as she just released her second post-conservatorship single, "Mind Your Business" with will.i.am, last week. In fact, the Black Eyed Peas frontman revealed that Britney created an entirely new song while they were working on "Mind Your Business" and believes that Britney has a "plethora" of unreleased music that fans haven't heard yet!
