Tina Knowles is not losing any sleep over her comments about Richard Lawson! Following news of her separation from the Hollywood veteran, an old clip of the couple seemingly hinted at the imminent end of their marriage.
When Beyoncé said, "My mama was a savage" in the viral remix of Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage" song, the music mogul was not kidding. The former costume designer for Destiny's Child recently became a two-time divorcee at 69.
A day after filing for the dissolution of her eight-year relationship, the Texas native appeared to clap back at the ongoing speculations about her divorce. The "Halo" singer's mother received backlash for allegedly insulting her former beau in a docuseries.
Tina Knowles Drops Not-So-subtle Response To Resurfaced Video About Imperfect Richard Lawson
Following the re-emergence of her appearance on the second season of "Black Love: The Interviews," the mother of two shared an important message on Instagram. On Thursday, July 27, the media personality dropped a quote from the Canadian-American actor Michael J. Fox.
The words of wisdom read: "I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God's business." Echoing similar sentiments in her caption, the Miss Tina by Tina Knowles founder seemingly addressed the clip mentioned above.
"Came across this quote this morning. I could not agree more with Micheal J Fox! I believe Any human being who thinks that they are perfect, or someone else could be perfect, is delusional!!" The ACE Award recipient quipped, presumably referencing her old comments about Lawson's imperfect nature.
"I believe that Only God is perfect!" Knowles concluded her message, imploring fans to share their thoughts. The most-awarded Grammy honoree's mother brought up the matter of perfection after getting called out for dissing her estranged partner.
As seen in the resurfaced video, the then-couple had appeared on an episode of the Oprah Winfrey Network docuseries, "Black Love." The pair donned matching all-black ensembles, seated on a couch with Knowles holding her former lover's arm.
During the interview, the 69-year-old opened up about gaining self-confidence after failing to recognize her worth in previous relationships. Reflecting on her achievements helped the Texas beauty realize she deserved happiness with someone who recognized her value.
"I was like, 'I'm a bad sister. I have done some incredible things. I'm not so bad, and I deserve somebody 'cause I'm-I'm-I'm great,'" the businesswoman confessed. "And that's not an arrogant thing. That's just like all these years I've accomplished all these things, but I've never really even took a look at them."
"I never owned them or felt good about them. So all of the sudden, I felt good about myself, and I think that's how I was able to attract someone," the House of Deréon co-founder continued, advising viewers to fall in love with themselves and know their worth to improve their chances of finding the right partner.
Using herself as an example, the entrepreneur stressed the importance of patience, noting that she found love at 59 after envisioning and praying for the type of man she wanted. However, her following statement seemingly hinted at Knowles' dissatisfaction with Lawson.
"Is he perfect? Absolutely not, but he has a lot of the qualities that I love," the entertainer claimed. Looking confused, the "All My Children" actor asked, "No?" To which his lover rolled her eyes and confirmed, "No."
Fans Suspect The Couple's Marriage Ended Because Of 'Talks With Mama Tina' Host's Statement
As mentioned, the resurfaced interview did not sit well with many as they accused the "Single Ladies" hitmaker's mother of destroying her marriage. A fan slammed the 69-year-old, writing:
"It was at this point when I KNEW it wasn't going to be long. You don't humiliate someone like that. No one is perfect, and that look she gave told it all."
"Is he perfect? Absolutely not. She f**ked him up with that one!" Someone else chimed. A third supporter claimed: "Look on his face while she was talking immediately spoke this will not last."

"She had no respect for that man from the beginning!" Another quipped, "Just cause she B mama. She can be wrong too! At this point, it's her." Despite the backlash, a few fans defended Knowles, noting the Texas native had spoken the truth.
"She's speaking about recognizing her SELF-WORTH after not recognizing it in the past. She's 💯 percent correct," a social media user fired back. "She didn't say she was perfect either. She clearly understands that no one is. That is her point."
