Cardi B and Offset need awards for their staging skills! After raising concerns about their marriage, the duo slyly turned their perceived spat into a promotion for a new single.
The lovebirds seem to have the best PR team, as their recent online banter appears to have inspired a musical collaboration. Whether or not their issues are fake remains to be seen, but the pair have a history of playing with fans.
The spouses secretly tied the knot in September 2017 before staging a public proposal the next month during a performance. A month after the Migos rapper accused his wife of cheating, the couple teased the release of their duet "Jealousy."
Fans Rejoice As Cardi B Unveils The Cover Art For Her Latest Collab With Offset
The "Bodak Yellow" songstress confirmed all was well in her relationship with the Lawrenceville native in a recent Instagram update. The 30-year-old shared the stunning cover art for the lovebirds' upcoming single.
The image gave off 90s vibes with a dark and slightly grainy effect. In the background were throwback props with an antique payphone and an old-fashioned apartment building. The entertainers posed outside the house with Offset leaning against an old-school car.
The "Bad and Boujee" artist rocked a white graphic tee over a pair of patchwork jeans with a bedazzled chain dangling from his waist. True to his signature Hip-hop style, the 31-year-old's accessories included chunky diamond necklaces, multiple bracelets, and a gold wristwatch.
Meanwhile, Cardi appeared to be done with her other half, appearing upset as she pushed Offset's face while walking away with a disgruntled expression. The voluptuous goddess unleashed her inner Yvette from the iconic "Bad Boy" movie with her outfit.
The mother of two gave viewers a busty display in her skintight pink top. The outfit featured a chest cutout with the "WAP" hitmaker's enormous assets peeking through the opening. The New Yorker paired the bodycon with high-waisted jeans and matching pink hoop earrings.
Sticking to the old-school theme, the entertainer's dark tresses were styled in a 90s-inspired hair updo. The curly number framed Cardi's forehead and cascaded down her shoulders. "Jealousy out Friday…link in bio," the 30-year-old captioned the snap.
Naturally, the announcement received positive responses from fans, with many happy to see the couple back on good terms. "Cardi and Offset, this is the collab of the year," someone declared with another chiming: "I love this 90s vibes! I'm sure this would be a bop!!!"
More followers addressed the spouses cheating drama with someone writing: "You better Beyoncé and Jay Z the gossip! We love it." A fourth penned their excitement in all caps, commenting: "USE THAT HURT SIS!!! ITS GOING TO BE FIRE!!"
"Jodie and Yvette, stop playing!!!" A fan exclaimed, noting the couple's cover art bore a similar resemblance to the characters from 2001's "Bad Boy" movie. Aside from the general enthusiasm for the new single, a few wondered if the duo's online banter had been a publicity stunt.
"Omg, so that whole thing that was on Offset's story was just a line in your new song," a theorist penned. "U guys had your enemies happy for nothing. I can't wait. I love you guys."
A fellow social media user echoed similar opinions about the couple's staged fight. "They always do something crazy before they drop…everything they do is a stunt," the individual claimed.
The Billboard Women In Music Honoree Fired Back At Her Husband's Infidelity Claims
The cheating saga between the "Clout" singers began on June 26 after Offset accused his wife of having an affair in a since-deleted Instagram Story post. “My wife f**ked a N**ga on me gang yall n**gas know how I come,” the Lawrenceville native penned.
Shortly after his message, Cardi clapped back at the infidelity claims in a Twitter Space recording. The "Press" singer implied her husband had no right to accuse her of cheating, given his past affairs. She hinted at this by singing the first verse of Keyshia Cole’s iconic track, “I Should Have Cheated.”
The New Yorker advised fans to dismiss Offset's post, claiming his emotional rant was influenced by a Twitter Space conversation. In the 30-year-old's words:
“Listen, don’t pay attention to that countryman, y’all. Don’t pay attention to that countryman. That spaces the other day got motherf**kers spiraling and thinking sh*t.”
Regarding her loyalty to her husband, the Grammy winner stressed she was too famous to have an affair. Cardi noted the media would have spread the word of her infidelity before Offset could announce it.
