Recent reports have shed light on the alleged reason behind Minaj's absence from Netflix's "Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop" documentary.

According to a tweet by podcaster Shawn Allen, who is involved with the project, the acclaimed rapper and Missy Elliott "didn't allow their music and videos to be licensed for use" in the documentary.

"Nicki didn't let us license her music & videos," the tweet read.

"That's not what we're asking. Was the plan to include her?" a fan of Minaj asked Allen.
