Cara Delevingne Reveals Being Sober Has Made Her 'Stable' & 'Calmer'

Cara Delevingne has shared some more details about her sobriety.

The model and actress have been serious about being and remaining sober since she saw some unflattering and "heartbreaking" pictures published by a media outlet last year. The incident caused her to reflect on her addiction troubles and mental health struggles and prompted her to check herself into rehab. She has now updated her fans on her journey, claiming sobriety helped her career.

Months after she confessed that she had not been "ready" to fight her demons until she fell into a "bad place," Delevingne has issued a new candid interview. Speaking to ELLE UK for their September issue, she disclosed that her decision to quit drinking has been "worth every second." In her words:

"It hasn't [been easy], but there have never been moments when I'm like, 'This isn't worth it.' It's been worth every second. I just don't know what it would take for me to give it up. I am stable. I'm calmer."

While expressing a profound sense of relief after honestly discussing her struggles earlier this year, the "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" actress explained, "For a long time, I felt like I was hiding a lot from people who looked up to me. I finally feel as though I can be free and myself, fully."

Later in the chat, Delevingne credited her girlfriend Minke — whose real name is Leah Mason — for helping her journey flow smoothly. On that, the "Paper Towns" star gushed that the "Gold Angel" singer "has been wonderful" in introducing her to "a lot of things and people." She continued:

"Being with my girlfriend, in this relationship, there are just so many things that came at once that have made me so happy and comfortable with who I am."

The "Kids in Love" actress' comments about her partner are rare and heartwarming, as she and Minke have maintained a low profile since confirming their romance in 2022. The supermodel, who came out as pansexual in 2020, had previously spoken about her coming out to Vogue last August. At the time, Delevingne had declared:

"I was done with being ashamed for who I loved and who I was. So for me it was more just being like, love is love, and we should be able to love who we want."

During the same interview, she admitted to getting a "reality check," an urgent wake-up call after a clip of her looking distressed and disheveled as she wandered around barefoot at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles surfaced online last July.

The video, which paparazzi captured, showcased the two-time British Fashion Awards' Model of the Year repeatedly dropping her phone on the ground in between conversations.

Claiming that her behavior was tied to the pandemic's effect and her milestone 30th birthday, the "I Feel Everything" songstress recalled having her first alcoholic experience at seven years when she sneakily drank champagne at a family wedding.

Following the insightful disclosure, the "Tell It Like a Woman" performer had switched up her hairdo, opting to chop off a chunk of her curls so her hair came to her shoulders. Per The Blast, she added more highlights to the' do, emphasizing her blond streaks.

The new look seemed to align with her plan to "start over" and was shown off on Instagram by celebrity hairstylist Riawna Capri. In the image uploaded, the "Nothing Came to Me" actress donned a black tank top that showed off her cleavage and a blazer that paired perfectly with her eyeshadow.

While the post garnered thousands of likes, several people trooped into the comments to drop their praises for the stylist and the superstar. "Best she's ever looked 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽," one person applauded, as another commented, "Her cut and color are 🤩! Nicely done! ❤️."
