Comedian Pete Davidsonscored a huge win in court after a judge agreed with giving him no jail time in his reckless driving case.

We've learned Davidson's lawyers snuck into the Los Angeles courthouse on July 19, 2023, and struck a deal with prosecutors and the judge to allow a "diversion" in this case.

In California, a pretrial diversion program is often available to first-time and non-violent offenders to avoid serving jail time IF they complete treatment and/or educational classes. Normally, the court will dismiss the case entirely and seal it, once the diversion contract is fulfilled.

In this case, the judge issued a diversion for "18 months" and will check back in on Davidson once it's completed. Pete was "ordered to obey all laws and appear at the next hearing in a year," a court source told The Blast.

Davidson was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service which he can do in New York. Interestingly, Pete will be able to complete it at the NYC Fire Department where his father worked and died during the 9/11 tragedy. Pete will also have to appear at a morgue, so he will see what can happen as a result of reckless driving.

This is a great outcome for the 'Saturday Night Live' star, as long as he keeps himself out of trouble for the next year and a half. Normally, the person must pay a fine (usually under $500) to the court. Of course, the wealthy comedian will have no problem paying the fine.

As we reported, Pete Davidson was charged with reckless driving after veering off a road in LA and crashing his Mercedes Benz into the front of a house. At the time, a DA spokesperson said, "We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home."

Adding, "Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision. We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences."

Davidson was allegedly driving the car at a "high rate of speed" while his girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders was in the passenger seat. Pete reportedly lost control, ran over a fire hydrant, skidded across a front lawn, and crashed into the house.

In June, Pete Davidson checked himself into a rehab facility for borderline personality disorder and PTSD. According to PageSix, the comedian is being treated at the same Pennsylvania center where his close friend John Mulaney sought help for alcohol and drug issues. "Pete regularly goes to rehab for ‘tune ups’ and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening," a friend told the outlet. Adding, "Anyone who knows Pete knows that he will always step up and get help when he knows he needs it. He has a lot of people in his corner who love him and support him, and are proud of him."

It's unclear if this treatment is in any way connected to the reckless driving case, but it might help if the judge sees he is putting in work to better himself. Also, it's worth noting that most people who are charged with reckless driving -- and are first offenders -- don't normally do jail time. We know a few of you might be thinking celebrities get preferential treatment.

Not in this case.
