Margot Robbie Shares Friends' Reaction To Her Not Kissing Ryan Gosling
As fans across the globe eagerly awaited the "Barbie" movie release, speculations were rife about the potential chemistry between Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in their roles.
However, to the surprise of many, the script took a different direction, leaving out any romantic entanglements between the two stars.
In a recent interview with People, Robbie shared how her girlfriends playfully teased her upon learning about the lack of romantic scenes with Gosling.
The actress was asked if she was happy that she didn't have to "fully" kiss Gosling in the movie, to which she responded by saying, "Uh no!" with a laugh. "That didn't feel like a win for me."
"All of my girlfriends were like, 'Well, you did a whole movie with him, and you don't kiss? What's wrong with you? I thought you were in charge of this one!'" she added.
Robbie went on, "I was like, 'I know, I can't check that one off my list.'"
Gosling added, "It was so funny trying to figure out their idea of kissing. I'm so glad all of that got cut out."
'Barbie' Smashes The Global Box Office
The movie, released to rave reviews last Friday, has shattered box office records, opening to an astounding $300 million in its debut weekend worldwide, per Deadline.
The comedic film, starring the exceptionally talented Robbie as Barbie and Gosling as Ken, captured the hearts of audiences across the globe and is well on its way to becoming a cultural phenomenon.
According to Variety, "Barbie" also set the record of becoming the most significant film debut in 2023 and is the second biggest opening of all time, behind "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019, which pulled in $357 million.
Margot Robbie Oversold 'Barbie' To Studios
In a delightful revelation, Robbie playfully admitted to overselling the potential success of the "Barbie" movie during its pitch meetings with studios, per Collider.
The charming actress, who doubles as a producer on the film, couldn't help but add a touch of humor to the situation as she recalled her bold claims that the movie had the potential to rake in a staggering $1 billion at the box office.
"I think my pitch in the green-light meeting was the studios have prospered so much when they're brave enough to pair a big idea with a visionary director," Robbie said in an interview with the news outlet.
She said, "And then I gave a series of examples like, 'dinosaurs and [Steven] Spielberg' – pretty much-naming anything incredible and made a ton of money for the studios over the years. And I was like, 'And now you've got Barbie and Greta Gerwig.' And I think I told them that it'd make a billion dollars, which maybe I was overselling, but we had a movie to make, okay?"
Margot Robbie Says She's A Thrill-Seeker
In a recent interview with CBS News, Robbie shared an intriguing aspect of her personality that many might not know about. The movie star revealed her adrenaline penchant and labeled herself a "thrill seeker."
Despite her poised and composed demeanor on the silver screen, Robbie's off-screen persona is far from what one might expect. During a conversation with the news outlet, she affirmed that she's a risk taker and wouldn't accept any script that didn't involve risks.
"Yeah, I love taking risks... What can I say? I'm a thrill seeker," she confessed with a twinkle in her eye. "If it doesn't scare the sh*t out of me, I won't take it."
