Jon Gosselin Slams Ex-Wife's Statement About Their Son
Jon Gosselin has responded to ex-wife Kate Gosselin's allegations regarding their son Collin. He released a statement to the U.S. Sun via his rep, which read, "Kate posting cruel false accusations regarding Collin seems to be just another way for her to justify her inexcusable horrific past behavior toward him."
Jon further noted that if Kate truly loved Collin, she wouldn't be attacking him "to the public." The rep also revealed to the publication that Collin had just passed a mental evaluation and extensive background check by the US Marine Corps.
He said, "The government's full diagnoses clearly reflects the truth. At this point, Collin is training to be a marine in order to serve his country and is unable to respond to his mother's callus lies."
Kate Gosselin Claims Collin Attacked Her With A Weapon
Jon's statement defending Collin came after Kate went public with claims of her son's alleged violent behavior. She released a statement saying that he was placed in a psychiatric facility because of his "unpredictable and violent behavior."
Kate wrote that he'd received "multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years" and undergone several treatments that ended up being "insufficient for his needs." She said, "The decision to admit him was made by emergency room doctors following one of his many attacks/outbursts — this one involving his use of a weapon."
In her statement, Kate also revealed that Collin was violent and abusive toward Jon and their other seven kids. The "Jon & Kate Plus 8" star wrote, "Collin's distorted perception of reality is one of the many issues that he has always struggled with." Kate ended her statement by saying Collin was a "troubled young man," which is why she and the other kids distanced themselves.
Collin Gosselin Claims His Mom Wanted To Silence Him
During a recent appearance on the Vice show, "Dark Side of the 2000s," Colin discussed his psychiatric hospitalization for the first time. He opened up about his time and experiences in the facility, which many of his family's fans have been curious about for years.
Collin talked about how his stay affected him mentally as he had "no support system." The 19-year-old said, "It was a really, really dark place. All I had was myself. I didn't have anybody else. You know, I had no support system. It was scary. I was confused. I was lost."
He noted that his mom put him in the behavioral facility because he let the cat out of the bag on her "abusive" behavior at home. He alleged that his mother's intention was to place him "somewhere where [he] wouldn't be able to put the secrets out."
Jon And Collin Gosselin Lost Contact With The Other Kids
The drama between Jon, Kate, Collin, and the rest of their kids was shown on an episode of Vice's "Dark Side of the 2000s" titled "Jon & Kate Plus 8: Family Circus." In the episode, Jon revealed that six out of his eight children with Kate no longer talk to him.
On the show, Collin also revealed that he lost communication with his siblings when his mom placed him in the facility in 2016. He said, "I think my mom kind of drove a social barrier between us. She told them the story one way, and, obviously, I see the story a different way."
Jon and Kate had a pair of twins, Mady and Cara, and then the sextuplets. They include Collin, Hannah, Aaden, Leah, Alexis, and Joel. Their family first rose to fame on the hit TLC show, "Jon & Kate Plus 8."
