America Ferrera Reveals Her Guilty Pleasure
In a lighthearted chat with Vanity Fair, America Ferrera revealed a quirky aspect of her personal routine. When questioned about her guilty pleasure during the entertaining segment, Ferrera, 39, hesitated for a moment, clearly uncertain about sharing this peculiar secret. She finally spilled the beans, confessing that she occasionally indulges in a break from her regular bathing routine.
"I'm going to really regret saying this," the "Barbie" star began before divulging her surprising admission, "It's not showering for a few days."
Her fellow co-stars, including Margot Robbie, Issa Rae, and Kate McKinnon, along with the iconic "Little Women" director Greta Gerwig, were taken aback by the revelation. Robbie exclaimed, "What! I would never have expected that," while Rae turned her head away in mock disapproval.
'Barbie' Cast Guessed America Ferrera's Guilty Pleasure
Before her surprising revelation, the "Barbie" castmates had been playfully guessing Ferrera's guilty pleasure.
McKinnon, known for her wit and humor, playfully suggested, "Cookie dough!" However, Gerwig injected, "No, it's not food related," before offering her guess, "Oh, I bet a massage or something. Self-care? Is that a guilty pleasure or the same thing?"
Robbie agreed with Gerwig, and McKinnon couldn't help but share an amusing suggestion, "Or perhaps it's browsing real estate websites like Redfin, and fantasizing about other lives."
However, Ferrera shook her head and responded, "No, I don't feel guilty about any of those things." Rae added her witty take, "Maybe it's secretly enjoying those rare moments away from her kids?"
America Ferrera Didn't Have A Barbie Doll Growing Up
In the blockbuster "Barbie," movie Ferrera stands out as one of the few actresses who doesn't portray a Barbie doll, a departure from the rest of the star-studded cast. In a series of character posters released earlier in April, Ferrera's real-world human character was introduced alongside other notable talents, including Ariana Greenblatt, Will Ferrell, Connor Swindells, and Jamie Demetriou.
In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Ferrera revealed intriguing details about her character in the movie. She plays a vital role as an employee at Mattel, the company responsible for Barbie's creation. Despite the allure of embodying the iconic doll, Ferrera revealed that she had never held any interest in portraying a Barbie onscreen in the highly-anticipated film.
The "Superstore" alum shared that Barbie dolls were a luxury during her childhood as her family couldn't afford the plastic icons of American girlhood. She added that she only got to play with them while visiting a cousin's house. So starring in the summertime blockbuster based on the famous doll was something she never imagined would happen.
"I don't really remember the Barbie world ever resonating with me," Ferrera candidly admitted. "I imagine that's because I didn't feel very represented or reflected by it. Never in a million years did I imagine that I would be part of a Barbie movie. I was the little girl who didn't see myself in the mainstream culture around me, and I know how important it is to feel seen."
America Ferrera Gushes About The 'Barbie' Movie
In an interview with People last October, Ferrera eagerly expressed her enthusiasm for the project, describing the movie as "just awesome in the truest sense." She added, "I'm so excited for people to share in that awesomeness."
She praised the moviemaking without divulging too much, stating, "People don't have any idea what to expect [with the film], and I think that that's the right vibe. Whatever you think it is, it's not that. It's something else."
"All of the craftsmanship is just awe-inspiring, and the sets themselves were magnificent and awesome, as was the wardrobe and the hair and the makeup," Ferrera gushed.
