Benny Safdie Claims They Sprang Into Action After Sebastian Bear-McClard's 'Troubling Behavior'

Benny Safdie is making it clear that his production company co-founded by Sebastian Bear-McClard does not agree with his actions.

The producer sat down with GQ magazine and touched on the disappointing situation that took place between McClard and a handful of women who accused him of sexual misconduct. He was accused of “troubling behavior” at the height of the company’s success.

“It’s disgusting, and when you find out something about somebody that you didn’t realize, you just have to be much more careful,” says Benny whose brother Joshua is also co-founder of the production company.

“It’s a lot, and it’s not something that you want to have happen to anybody. And when you find it out, the one thing that you can do is really just take control.”

The brothers made the easy decision to fire McClard when they became aware of the situation in July 2022. The company was founded in 2014 and is responsible for films like Uncut Gems and Good Time.

McClard’s bad behavior was exposed by Variety which reported on his questionable behavior and also alluded to the Safdie brothers having some of their own weird behavior. An actress who was 17 at the time, shared the awful experience she had.

While filming Good Time she was coaxed into getting naked, with a male actor unknown to her. the actor asked if he could “penetrate” her and allegedly, the brothers were on set and did nothing about it.

The woman who remained anonymous spoke out about the uncomfortable situation. “I was utterly stunned and felt terrified. My distress only worsened when out of nowhere, [an actor] whispered in my ear if ‘he could stick it in’ while the cameras rolled. I said ‘no.’”

Despite being married to model Emily Ratajkowski, McClard decided to pursue a relationship with that same 17-year-old. Apparently, they had a consensual relationship for 2 years. Another woman, who was 18 at the time also carried on an inappropriate relationship with the producer.

He reached out to her on Instagram and groomed her. he made promises to her that he would make her a star. At the time, he was working on Uncut Gems starring Adam Sandler. When the news broke his wife took off.

Ratajkowski at the time shared a two-year-old son name Sylvester with McClard but it didn’t stop her from getting the heck out of there.

Once the news broke it was revealed, as it often is that he has more than one instance of this behavior. Sebastian “cheated. He’s a serial cheater. It’s gross. He’s a dog,” claimed a source to PageSix.

EmRata then all but confirmed the rumors when she liked a tweet that read “can’t believe that little b*** cheated on emrata.” The model doesn’t talk about the situation often or at all, really.  She did tell the LA Times that she was “scared” of being more candid.

She elaborated. “Because 'I’m learning that outspoken women don’t often get their children.”
