Fans cannot wait to watch 71-year-old Gerry Turner as he looks for love in the new "Bachelor" spin-off series, "The Golden Bachelor".
The franchise announced the senior spinoff, “The Golden Bachelor” a few months ago, explaining, “After more than 20 years of fostering young love on ‘The Bachelor,’ ‘The Bachelorette,’ and ‘Bachelor in Paradise,’ ‘The Golden Bachelor’ showcases a whole new kind of love story — one for the golden years,” ABC said in a press release announcing the upcoming reality series.
According to the press release, “one hopeless romantic” will be “given a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life.”
But will Bachelor Nation be tuning into the series? "The Bachelor" alum Abigail Heringer is speaking out.
Will Abigail Heringer Watch "The Golden Bachelor"?
Abigail Heringer first appeared in "The Bachelor" franchise on Season 25. After being eliminated, she went on to find love with Noah Erb on Season 7 of "Bachelor In Paradise".
The "Bachelor" alum is still friends with many of Bachelor Nation and often supports the new leads of the show, but will she be tuning into the new spin-off, "The Golden Bachelor"?
In a Q&A on her Instagram Story, Heringer says "I'm definitely intrigued and excited to see a different change of pace!!"
She added that she is "curious [to see] how different the dates, conversation, and fashion will be" so she thinks she will be tuning in.
During Heringer's time in Bachelor Nation, the 28-year-old was very open up about her hearing loss and how she wears a cochlear implant. She noticed that Turner, the new 71-year-old lead of "The Golden Bachelor" also wears a hearing aid as she wrote "and peep the hearing aids" in her Stories.
Meet The New “Golden Bachelor”
ABC recently announced that 71-year-old Gerry Turner will be the new lead on the upcoming spin-off series, “The Golden Bachelor”.
“He posts his thirst traps in a leather-bound album. His DMs have postage… He doesn’t have gray hair, he has ‘wisdom highlights.’ Florida wants to retire, and move to him,” ABC's teaser announcement stated.
Turner is the first ever senior to be looking for love in the “Bachelor” franchise. He is a "retired restaurateur and doting father and grandfather, Gerry [GAIR-ee] Turner lives in his dream house on a beautiful lake in Indiana,” according to ABC. “He’s often busy hosting barbecues, playing pickleball, cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams, four-wheeling, and spending time with friends and family at restaurants and local haunts.”
The 71-year-old married his high school sweetheart in 1974 and had two daughters together. “Always a romantic, Turner married his high school sweetheart, Toni, in 1974," ABC reported. "Together, they lived a full and happy life with their two daughters, Angie and Jenny, and later two granddaughters, Charlee and Payton."
Unfortunately, in 2017, Toni passed away after falling ill. Six years after her passing, Turner says he is ready to put himself back out there. “Six years after Toni’s passing and with the support of his family, Turner is ready to put himself out there and find a love that will stand the test of time in his golden years,” ABC concluded.
The new series will air this fall on ABC. An exact date has yet to be announced.
