Selena Gomez Is Giving 'Barbie' Vibes With New Hair Transformation

Selena Gomez left the internet utterly transfixed by her latest hairstyle, and some might say she is in her "Barbie" era. Essentially, the modern beauty mogul is used to keeping it real with her au naturel selfies and unfiltered videos.

However, with the much-anticipated "Barbie" movie hitting cinemas this week, choosing this exact time to be extra with her hairstyle and glam is only fitting. The songstress and businesswoman gave her rendition of Barbie, and how she styled it was anything but trash; in fact, fans were SO here for it.

Although her dark, glossy brunette hair color has remained consistent, the "Another Cinderella Story" star took to Instagram to reveal her most dramatic hair transformation of recent years. And much to the delight of her 426 million strong followers, she's gone blonde. 

Gomez posted a carousel of images elucidating her new blonde hair, with the caption simply, "??‍♀️" The first shot shows her blonde hair and dark roots slicked back into an almost Goddess-inspired updo.

The second frame reveals the "Rare Beauty" founder in a silk green dress, posing up against a table. In this, Gomez embodied a modern Marilyn Monroe as she rocks short blonde locks, cat-eye make-up, and scarlet red lips. She topped the fashion with pink-coated nails and simple shimmering earrings.

The singer further posed and showed off this new Barbie blonde color in a more natural setting for all to see. In the mirror selfie, her dark roots could not be missed either, as she sported a multi-colored jacket and posed with an iced latte drink. As expected, fans went into a frenzy about the new hairstyle just minutes after the photos were posted.

One fan wrote, "Selena is really a natural beauty." A second person wrote, "I'm telling you, SELENA IS BARBIE," while another added: "Third photo is giving Marilyn Monroe vibes ?." "Imagine looking this perfect everyday ?," a fourth admirer typed. One particular follower called her a "Queen."

Whether or not the blonde will become a mainstay remains in the air for now, but one staple fact is that Gomez is 'high maintenance.' Just days ago, the "Only Murders In The Building" star confirmed she is not involved with anyone and is very much single citing her unique taste as the reason for it.

In a TikTok clip the super gorgeous former Disney star had posted on her account, fans saw her draped in thick blankets while flirting with some football players from the pitch's sidelines. She said:

"I'm single! I'm just a little high maintenance, but I'll love you so much." The upload was captioned, "The struggle, man, lol."

The viral post, as reported, gained numerous likes and thousands of comments. Some fans found the depiction highly relatable, while others were more focused on her and pointed out that she could get any man she wanted.

A moment back, before she declared her relationship status, The Blast reported how Gomez's fans led a controversial debate about the pop singer's life being the inspiration behind "The Idol" movie in the wake of its final episode.

The series— co-created by her one-time boyfriend, The Weeknd, and director Sam Levinson, depicts a troubled singer, Jocelyn [played by Lily-Rose Depp], falling for a cult leader, Tedros [played by The Weeknd], who subsequently controls, abuses, and at one point physically and sexually assaults her.

To start the controversy, BuzzFeed compiled a list of similarities between Gomez's life and Jocelyn's, starting with both being pop stars who started their careers as child actors on a hit show for children.

Another likeness was their tour cancelations — the "Lose You To Love Me" singer canceled her "Revival" world tour with a few months left after she was diagnosed with lupus. But for Jocelyn, she canceled her world tour following her mother's death.

The most jarring affinity came in a spliced video containing a scene of Jocelyn monologuing about not allowing "the trauma" of her past to affect the person she wanted "to be moving forward." 

Similarly, Selena had an Instagram Live, admitting she was "terrified of what these magazines are going to say about me." Both touched on the public's shameful portrayal of them.

Critics had more than enough to say in the wake of the publication. One tweeted, "That theory about the idol being about Selena Gomez makes so much sense that it's almost scary. The Weeknd is shady as f**k ?."

A second netizen claimed, "Ever since finding out the idol is probably just the weeknd's selena gomez fanfic, I haven't been able to sleep," "holy sh** everything is so creepy, it almost makes the show even more sinister knowing what else they were planning on adding in the show," a third person wrote.
