Kevin Costner: My Ex-Wife Is Trying To Steal My Pots & Pans!
By Mike Walters on July 14, 2023 at 1:59 PM EDT
Kevin Costner is dragging his ex-wife back to court claiming she is removing valuable items from their home, including the pots and pans.
According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Costner claims there is an emergency in the couple's divorce because his ex-wife -- Christine Costner -- is taking items from the family's beach house while he is on vacation with their kids.
Shockingly, the list of valuable items isn't things like priceless art or a Rolls Royce, it's little things like "sewing fabrics, cookbooks, and some pots and pans."
Kevin Costner Claims His Ex-Wife Is Looting Their Home While He's On Vacation
As you know, this divorce has turned very nasty after Kevin accused his wife of not vacating the massive beachfront home, even though he says that is what is in their prenuptial agreement. It should be noted, the prenup allegedly says the couple shares NO community property. In other words, all the houses and other property are his separate assets.
The documents were filed in Santa Barbara County Courts as an "ex-parte" which means this situation is an emergency and can't wait for the next hearing to work out.
Kevin's lawyers make a veiled threat that they could get the police involved if they can't come to an agreement. "I proposed this Stipulation as a means of “keeping the peace” during (Christine's) move, to prevent disputes, to avoid the necessity of police involvement regarding (Christine) unilaterally taking (Kevin's) separate property furniture, furnishings, and appliances from his residence," the document states.
It continues, she is taking the "Plates and bowls/silverware” without specifying which plates, which bowls, and which silverware." Of course, it's crazy to think a couple worth over $50 million would be arguing over pots and pans. We guess it could be a really nice set of plates?!
Cosnter's Divorce Might Involve The Police Department At Some Point?!
"It was unreasonable to expect Ms. Costner, who was (and is) on vacation with the children, to be strong-armed into a vague, non-specific agreement allowing (Christine) to remove unknown and unidentified items," Kevin's legal team argues.
Kevin's lawyers point out that the 'Yellowstone' star already deposited $1.5 Million into an account for his ex-wife. (It was part of the prenuptial agreement) But, she hasn't touched it given that she might be challenging the validity of the deal.
"Recall that (Kevin) has $1.5 million at her disposal, which (Christine) has agreed she may use without prejudice to her claim regarding the spousal support provisions of the PMA," they wrote. Adding, "She has plenty of money to buy furniture, pots and pans, and dishes."
The kitchen appliances aren't the only problem Kevin has with his ex-wife. According to his team, she bought herself a new car with his money. The prenuptial agreement states she is allowed to take her car in the divorce, so they are claiming she upgraded at the last minute.
"(Christine) bought an expensive vehicle for her personal use (probably because the PMA allows her to take that vehicle with her). Thus, it appears that she had been planning her exit long before she told (Kevin) in April 2023," the filing says.
In the end, Kevin calls his ex-wife's behavior "disturbing" saying, she "has shown a disturbing propensity in the last several months, both before and after separation, to take his property without his knowledge or consent."
As we reported, Christine just scored about half of what she asked for in child support, which is around 150K a month. Also, a judge has ruled she can't take any valuables out of the home while Kevin is away.
The bottom line, this divorce is nasty. Period.
