Mommy's wrists, also called Mommy's thumb, is a condition that commonly affects women's wrists, mainly pregnant women and mothers of youngsters. According to the American Society for Surgery For the Hand, the condition is scientifically referred to as "de Quervain's tenosynovitis or tendonitis" and causes discomfort in the thumb, which worsens whenever the thumb moves.

Although the cause of the condition remains unknown, it results from "irritation of the tendons that extend the thumb in their surrounding sheath at the wrist," and patients may notice a cyst, bump, or swelling in the affected area.

Mommy's wrists can be diagnosed by physical examination, X-rays, or Finkelstein's test. Finkelstein's test involves a patient placing their thumb into their palm and wrapping their fingers around the thumb.  Afterward, the patient moves their wrist towards their small finger, reproducing their pain. The process has been proven to be quite painful.

Fortunately, surgery is never needed to treat the condition as patients recover with time. Hence, several non-surgical treatment options include wearing a splint, resting the hand, using anti-inflammatory medications, hand therapy, adjusting how the affected hand is used, and utilizing Corticosteroid injections.

Two months before Cuoco was diagnosed with Mommy's wrists, she opened up about having a bad mom day on her Instagram Story using a photo of herself carrying a bawling Matilda. She captured herself lounging in the sitting room of her home, wearing a gray T-shirt and a blue and yellow tartan pajama bottom while her baby was clad in a black long-sleeved onesie.

The "8 Simple Rules" star looked worn out in the post, but Matilda was not so bothered as she kept on wailing. "Not every day is perfect!" Cuoco captioned the picture, adding a crying piglet sticker. In a following update displaying an endearing snap of a cute-looking Matilda, the "Charmed" actress clarified that some days were better than others.

The little one who rocked a two-piece ribbed pink outfit appeared in a better mood as she was not crying. A relieved Cuoco then declared on the post, "But most are!" adding multiple heart emojis.
