Oscar De La Hoya Praises Everyone But Himself For Raising His Kids

Oscar De La Hoya doesn’t take offense to being called a deadbeat dad, he knows he didn’t have a hand in raising his offspring.

The former professional boxer shares a daughter with Shanna Moakler named Atiana De La Hoya. When Moakler married Travis Barker, he treated Atiana like his own daughter. How could he not she was a four-year-old child whose dad divorced her mom and didn’t look back.

De La Hoya is grateful. He realizes that he stepped out on a role and his daughter was lucky enough to have another man step up in a positive way. He also acknowledged the moms and thanked them for being able to pull through.

The whole awkward apology came during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. He straight up had to say, “Look, I didn't raise my kids, you know?”

De La Hoya went on to say, “I have to give credit where credit is due,” noting, “I'm grateful that Barker was there, you know, as a father figure for my daughter.” Moakler and De La Hoya got a divorce in 2000, Atiana was 1.

He admitted that he is an “absentee father.” And admits, “I have to be grateful that Shanna was a mother to Atiana ... And just know my place, basically, you know?” he also made clear what his role is now.

“My place -- I'm obviously a father, and I'm proud of it, but, again, I'm grateful for what they've done. Especially with Barker. He’s obviously stepped up to the plate.”

The entire time that Barker was married to Moakler and beyond their divorce, Atiana has remained a staple in the rockstar’s life. Wherever his kids with Moakler Landon and Alabama go, Atiana is always welcomed.

Barker’s daddy skills are probably one of the reasons why his new wife Kourtney Kardashian fell for him so hard. Now that they are going to have a kid. Their own, it’s one more sibling for Atiana to love on as a big sis.

De La Hoya has no doubt he will kill it again this time around with his new baby boy on the way. “He's such a nice guy,” says the athlete. “I have the utmost respect for him.” The model was most recently spotted with her big family.

Kourt and Travis celebrated her daughter Penelope’s 11th birthday over the weekend and Atiana was there with all her acquired siblings, stepdad, and his new wife. Of course, Moakler was not there, the family isn’t there yet.

Barker is really starting to look like the dad of the year with all the stepkids he is collecting. He has two biological children with one on the way. But in addition to being a stepdad to Atiana, he is now a stepdad to Scott Disick’s kids with Kardashian.

Mason, Penelope, and Reign have been seen photographed a lot with their new stepdad it almost seems like we see Barker more than we see Disick now.
