A new report claims that Selena Gomez finds the "uncanny similarities" between herself and Lily-Rose Depp's character in "The Idol" to be very "creepy."

The singer is reportedly also "irked" by it all and thinks that her ex-boyfriend, The Weeknd, who stars in the show, used her "real-life pain" for "entertainment value."

Since it debuted, "The Idol" has received flak for several reasons, particularly the high level of violence and nudity. It recently wrapped up after airing for five episodes, although a decision regarding a second season is yet to be made.

According to Daily Mail, Gomez isn't pleased with the striking resemblances between "The Idol's" Joycelyn and herself.

The singer allegedly believes that her ex-boyfriend, The Weeknd, who served as a co-producer on the show, used her personal struggles as inspiration for the character.

"The similarities between Selena's life and Jocelyn's life are just uncanny," a source told the publication. "Being [that] she actually dated The Weeknd, it is even more creepy for her."

The source added, "Her real-life pain was used for entertainment value and that really irks her out."

Gomez and The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye, dated for ten months in 2017. Their split was reportedly due to their busy schedules, which prevented their relationship from flourishing.

It is believed that their split was amicable, and this has seemingly made "everyone" in Gomez's team "dumbfounded" by the entire drama. But per the source, Gomez won't let it weigh her down.

The source continued, "At the end of the day, Selena is going to do what she always does – rise above and move on."

Although The Weeknd has yet to address these claims by his ex Gomez, he previously spoke about not being concerned with the negative criticism received from viewers and other critics.

In an interview with Variety, he shared that every concept seen in the show was thoroughly planned from the onset.

"We're playing with genres with this show, we're doing exactly what we wanted to do," the "Star Boy" crooner said The singer added, "And none of this is a surprise."

The Weekend starred as nightclub owner Tedros in "The Idol," who doubles as the manager for Jocelyn, played by Depp.

The duo's complicated relationship was one of the show's major highlights, which further fueled speculation about the similarities between Gomez and Jocelyn.

"The Idol" received a barrage of criticism shortly after it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, with one outlet dubbing the show a Pornhub-homepage odyssey.

The criticism increased with every new episode released, as fans pointed out several details they found wrong with the show.

One of them includes The Weeknd being slammed for the vulgar nature of the character he depicted and Depp being called out over the "bareness" of Jocelyn in most of the scenes.

The showrunners also received their fair share of negative remarks, as fans blasted them for including a line in one of the episodes that had a dark comedic reference to the horrors of Jeffrey Epstein's private Island. 

In the meantime, a decision has yet to be made with regard to the show being renewed for a second season.
