Britney Spears Accidentally Stole Pauly Shore's Table Following Security Guard Slap

It sounds like things got pretty crazy for Britney Spears on Wednesday night.

She was planning on dining at the Catch restaurant in the ARIA hotel in Las Vegas when she approached Victor Wembanyama with the hopes of snapping a photo together. However, a security guard mistook her for an overzealous fan and reportedly slapped her across the face.

Although the 41-year-old pop star was seated at the restaurant, her party was placed in the same booth that was occupied by Pauly Shore, who had gotten up to use the bathroom and left his belongings behind.

Although the security guard that slapped the "Hold Me Closer" singer isn't facing any charges, the drama isn't over quite yet. According to ET, Pauly Shore had to be moved to a different table after Britney's party was seated in his booth when he got up to use the bathroom. Individuals dining at Catch restaurant at the same time told TMZ that Pauly Shore had been seated at a booth in the restaurant.

He got up to use the restroom, leaving his phone, glasses, and fanny pack at the booth. However, the restaurant staff mistakenly thought that the table was empty and seated Britney's party there instead. When Pauly went back to his seat, Britney's party was sitting there instead. Eyewitnesses told the outlet that Britney's security team stopped Pauly from getting to the booth, but eventually let him through after he explained the situation.

It appears that there was no bad blood over the incident. Britney and Pauly laughed off the situation and Britney's manager, Cade Hudson, returned Pauly's belongings to him. The restaurant staff then escorted Pauly to a different table. It is unclear if Pauly actually saw the slap happen, or if he was in the restroom at the time.

On Thursday night, the 19-year-old French athlete spoke out about the incident in a video shared by KENS reporter Nate Ryan on Twitter. He explained that, although there was a crowd of people gathered, there was "one person" who kept calling his name repeatedly.

“That person grabbed me from behind,” Victor said. “I didn’t see what happened because I was walking straight and they told me ‘Don’t stop.’ But that person grabbed me from behind, grabbed on my shoulder. She grabbed me from behind so I just know that the security pushed her away.”

“I don’t know with how much force but security pushed her away. I didn’t stop to look so I kept walking and enjoyed a nice dinner,” he added, adding that he “didn’t know” that the woman was really Britney Spears “for a couple of hours.”

However, Britney took to Instagram on Thursday night to dispute the story and recalled what happened in her own words. “I recognized an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again,” she explained. “I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.”

“I am aware of the players [sic] statement where he mentions ‘I grabbed him from behind’ but I simply tapped him on the shoulder,” she wrote. “His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face.”

She went on to say that she has yet to receive an apology from Victor, the security guard, or the organization representing the security team. That being said, she isn't holding it against the athlete. On Friday night, she took to Instagram to say that she has never seen a security guard hit another person, even when she was around famous bands like NSYNC.

Still, she is not holding it against the NBA star. "Either way, I’m still a huge fan of the NBA player … it’s not his fault his security hit me … sh*t happens !!!” she wrote. However, fans are definitely holding it against the athlete, trolling him pretty hard on Twitter after his lackluster NBA debut on Friday night.
