Britney Spears Fans Stand With Pop Star After Alleged Security Slap

Singer Britney Spears has fans that are standing by her after she was reportedly assaulted by a member of Victor Wembanyama’s security team.

On Wednesday night, the 41-year-old pop star was dining at the Catch restaurant in the ARIA Hotel with her husband, Iranian actor Sam Asghari, and two others. She went up to the NBA star to ask for a photograph when the Director of Team Security for the San Antonio Spurs allegedly slapped her across the face.

Britney has filed a police report and is now speaking out about the incident after Sam released a statement supporting his wife. Victor also spoke out about the incident, claiming that he didn't know it was Britney and claiming that she "grabbed" him instead of tapping him on the shoulder - something she disputes.

In a statement in her Instagram Stories and Twitter, the "Hold Me Closer" singer explained her version of events. "Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them. I was not prepared for what happened to me last night," she wrote. "I recognized an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again. I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention."

"I am aware of the players [sic] statement where he mentions 'I grabbed him from behind' but I simply tapped him on the shoulder. His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face," she wrote. "I get swarmed by people all the time. In fact that night. I was swarmed by a group of at least 20 fans. My security team didn't hit any of them."

Her statement continued into a second slide. "This story is super embarrassing to share with the world but its [sic] out there already," Britney continued. "However, I think it's important to share this story and to urge people in the public eye to set an example and treat all people with respect. Physical violence is happening too much in this world. Often behind closed doors. I stand with all the victims and my heart goes out to all of you!!"

"I have yet to get a public apology from the player, his security or their organization," she wrote, adding, "I hope they will..." She then thanked her fans, writing, "I cherish the tremendous amounts of love and support I am receiving at the moment. Thank you to the Las Vegas PD and the detectives for their support."

Britney’s message received thousands of messages from her millions of supporters. “We stand with you, Britney. Nobody should be treated that way!!” one fan exclaimed. “We love you so much. Sending love and positive energy to you,” another follower wrote. “We love you, Britney!! You are America’s sweetheart, and I’m so sorry this happened to you!” a third fan wrote.

“Britney, you should have never had to have dealt with this! We love you so much!” another follower shared. “We are with you!” another fan commented. “We love you sweetie and are behind you for the full 200% and more,” another fan chimed in, using the hashtag #WeStandWithBritney.

"You were the first concert I ever went to, dude. I have always held a special place in my heart for moments like that. We stand with you, girl. Always have and always will," another follower shared. "Girl I have no clue who that no-name loser is but his security needs to get it together. You’re right about respect," another fan commented. "That was incredibly unprofessional of them and they deserve to face the consequences for it. We support you," another follower wrote.

"A large part of me was praying this wasn’t true. I’m so sorry this happened to you Brit. Yet again, you’re the bigger person and I applaud you for that. I hope you’re okay. Sending you SO MUCH LOVE," another fan commented. "We love you Brit and we feel so sick that this happened to you. You’ve been through enough. I hope the publicity that this story already has helps other people. You are a strong Queen!" another follower exclaimed.

"So glad to know you're ok Brit! If anyone knows about being surrounded by fans and people it’s you! Only wishing you the best," another fan chimed in. "Love you, Britney!!! You handled the situation perfectly. I hope this never happens again to you and any human being!!" another follower agreed.

"I adore you. Good for you for releasing this statement and standing up for yourself. The treatment you received, just for being an excited fan was abhorrent. Victor’s response to the media was so disrespectful. Keep strong. I hope you receive your justice in this situation," another fan wrote as her followers continued to express their support for the pop star.
