Amanza Smith is finally home!
The "Selling Sunset" star was in the hospital for 31 days and is finally back in her own home to continue to recover from surgery that was necessary after a blood infection spread to her spine.
Amanza Smith Is Recovering At Home!
The reality star and realtor had an eventful month in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after being admitted for a blood infection. While IV antibiotics was able to clear out some of the infection, surgery became necessary because the infection spread to the bones in her spine. A second surgery then became needed, which was a riskier surgery with a longer recovery period.
In an Instagram Story shared on Tuesday, Smith showed a clip of her at home learning how to use the antibiotic machine she will be hooked up to for the next few weeks.
"31 days later and I'm out!" she wrote on the video. "Learning how to use my new antibiotic machine that will be permanently hooked to me 24/7 for the next couple weeks. #onthemend"
Smith shared updates for her friends and fans every step of the way in her journey to healing. She shared some promising news about her recovery a week ago with an Instagram video captioned, "Getting stronger and can walk with a walker to the restroom and around the room a bit when my pain meds are allowing me to do so. Once we just get this pain under control I can possibly go home."
Her caption concluded with, "Pray that this last scan is clear and this girl can possibly go home soon. Day 23 and ready to get out of here. Thank you for all the continued thoughts and prayers. ♥️♥️♥️♥️❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽"
Amanza's Instagram Followers Left Motivational Messages For Her On Her Updates
Many of Smith's followers dropped motivational messages into the comment section as she was recovering from surgery.
"You are so beautiful inside and out. Stay hopeful and positive! You are SUCH a light and one of my favorites to watch grow and develop on Selling Sunset. You are a kind hearted human! Keep it up, you’ve already encouraged so many people in this world ☀️," one person wrote.
Another added, "Sending prayers and hugs to you! You are so strong and an inspiration to all of us! You got this chica!❤️❤️❤️"
On June 11, Smith explained in an Instagram post what was going on and why she was in the hospital.
"Over a month ago and all of this started I thought that I had a bulging disk or a slipped disc or something wrong with my lower back that was regular. I laid in pain in my house for several days. I cried. I took Tylenol. I went to urgent care. I didn’t know what it was but after over a month of excruciating pain I finally started to get some answers. I got an MRI and a CT scan and then was told that I need to go to Cedar Sinai. I came to Cedar Sinai last Friday thinking that I was going to get another scan on my back and then go home. Instead, I was admitted and they immediately started testing me for things in my blood," her caption began.
The caption went on to explain that she had a blood infection and that it spread to the bones in her spine. Doctors started her on antibiotics but still needed surgery to "have portions of the infection removed from my spine that weren't getting any better by the antibiotics."
On June 16, Smith updated her followers on the second surgery that has become necessary.
"I’ll be going in for my second surgery in the next few hours. Part of my spine has completely deteriorated due to the infection and I’ll be getting a new vertebrae and a couple of screws and rods in my spine to replace what has been eaten away from the bacteria," she wrote in the caption.
"I am in good spirits and positive that I will come out 💯 percent after healing ❤️🩹 in 3/4 months. Life is a journey. This is just another part of my already very colorful story and I’m going to use it to inspire others to keep pushing through!"
