Taking On The Monorail Bar Crawl Challenge At Disney World

Calling all Disney adults!
If you are 21 years and older and are planning a Walt Disney World vacation, you have to add the Monorail bar crawl to your list of things to do.
Here is your step-by-step guide on what the best bar crawl route is, which drinks to get at which bars, and where you can find the best bite to eat in between!
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
If you are staying on property at one of the non-Magic Kingdom Resorts, you will need to take a bus to Magic Kingdom and hop on the Monorail from there. The first stop will be Disney’s Contemporary Resort, so that is a great place to start!
There are two main bars that I love to visit here — Steakhouse 71 Lounge and The Outer Rim. The only major difference on which bar you may want to hit over the other is timing. While Steakhouse 71 Lounge opens at 12 p.m., The Outer Rim doesn’t open until 4 p.m. Therefore, if you want to start your bar crawl earlier, I recommend Steakhouse 71 Lounge.
For drinks, if you are with friends and want to share a fish bowl-type drink, get the 1971 Sunset. It’s made with Herradura Reposado Tequila, POG Juice (which is Disney’s famous juice concoction of papaya, orange, and grapefruit juices), Rosemary Simple Syrup and House-made Grenadine.
If you want to opt for individual drinks, they have a great margarita as well as wines and beers.
In regard to food, they have a variety of light bites to share with your group including crab cakes, onion rings, and chicken wings.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Next up on the bar crawl is Disney’s Polynesian Resort — home to two amazing bars, which I recommend visiting both.
Start at the Tambu Lounge, located just outside Disney’s Ohana Restaurant. Here, I highly (highly) suggest you get the Polynesian Mai Tai. This is not like an ordinary Mai Tai as it is made with Plantation Original Dark Rum, Bacardí Superior Rum, Bols Orange Curaçao, Lime Juice, Orgeat (Almond), and Pure Cane Sugar.
Once it is 2 p.m., head downstairs and put your name on the list for Trader Sam’s Grogg Grotto — Disney’s very own speakeasy! This list fills up fast so you will want to get your name on early and then you can head back to Tambu Lounge to enjoy another Polynesian Mai Tai until your name is called. Light bites are also offered here starting at 4 p.m. so if you are still waiting for your name to be called and need something to eat, try the famous Ohana noodles or the pot stickers.
Once your name is called, head to Trader Sam’s for this unique experience! Nearly every drink you order here is absolutely incredible and has its very own quirks performed by the bartenders. As far as food goes, the sushi rolls, lettuce cups, and flatbreads are all incredible and delicious.
Disney’s Grand Floridian
Last on the list is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort where I suggest you check out The Enchanted Rose — a “Beauty and the Beast”-themed bar.
This elegant atmosphere is complete with small accents from the 1991 animated classic and offers a wide selection of wines and specialty cocktails. The Island Rose is a personal favorite of mine and is made with Ketel One Grapefruit and Rose, Lime, Orgeat (Almond), Pineapple, Bitters, and Rose Water.
In regard to food, the Seasonal Flatbread is absolutely amazing. The most recent flatbread was made with Artichoke, Fig, Ricotta, Roasted Garlic, Watercress and it really it the spot! They also have house-made truffle fries which is a great snack to munch on while enjoying a glass of wine.
End the night by watching the fireworks at Magic Kingdom or by relaxing on the beach at Disney’s Grand Floridian!
