The new monarch's sibling has seemingly achieved his goal of staying at the Royal Lodge despite concerns about the 63-year-old's financial ability to manage the lavish home. Sources told PageSix, the Duke would not be kicked out of his home while his former lover recuperates.

The 30-room property near Windsor Castle, outside London, has been the exes' residence since 2003 when Prince Andrew signed a 74-year lease. Although he still had plenty of time left on the contract, King Charles tried to relocate the couple to Frogmore Cottage in a cost-cutting scheme.

Prince Andrew lost his official duties over his relationship with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. After paying a multimillion-dollar settlement to Virginia Giuffre, a victim who accused him of sexual exploits, the Duke allegedly became unable to foot the combined rent and upkeep of the Royal Lodge.

However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's former home would not receive its new residents because of Ferguson's battle with cancer. According to a friend of the "A Gift of Kindness" author, the mother of two needed time to recover after undergoing a nearly eight-hour mastectomy.

The insider did not share what further treatments the Duchess would receive but noted that her loved ones, including her ex-husband, had rallied to support her recovery. The source told the outlet:

"She is resting at home. It was major surgery. She’s had lots of support; both her daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, are being very supportive, as is Andrew."

News of the "Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah" host's breast cancer struggles came late last month through a representative of the Teenage Cancer Trust patron. The spokesperson revealed the humanitarian had been diagnosed with an early form of the malignant disease during her usual checkup.

"Sarah, Duchess of York, was recently diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer detected at a routine mammogram screening," the source announced. "She was advised she needed to undergo surgery, which has taken place successfully."

The insider assured fans that they need not worry about the "Her Heart for a Compass" author as she was on the road to recovery. According to Ferguson's spokesperson, doctors claimed the 63-year-old's "prognosis is good" and were giving her the "best medical care."

Additionally, the informant noted that the former senior royal member wished to inspire others to get regular checkups as her disease nearly went undetected. The Children in Crisis founder's representative chimed:

"She is also hugely thankful to the staff involved in the mammogram which identified her illness, which was otherwise symptom-free. And believes her experience underlines the importance of regular screening."

Prince Andrew Refused To Leave The Royal Lodge Amid Renovations Out Of Fear Of Eviction

Weeks before Ferguson's breast cancer diagnosis, her ex-husband made headlines for his reluctance to leave their longtime home during renovations. The father of two allegedly feared moving out of the Royal Lodge in case his relocation became permanent per his older brother's wishes.

According to a source, the grand property required several necessary repairs that would be carried out in the summer. These improvements included roof restorations, which would inconvenience anyone living there. To avoid this problem, Prince Andrew was advised to relocate to Frogmore Cottage.

However, the 63-year-old refused as he was reportedly afraid he would be permanently removed from the Royal Lodge if he left the property. Lamenting about the royal member's refusal to budge, the insider wailed:

“It’s become farcical. Andrew has roof repairs scheduled for later this summer, which will take several months to complete, and has been advised that staying in the house during those renovations could prove problematic. But he is reluctant to leave.”

Another informant claimed the Duke's unwillingness to leave his longtime home was because of the lease he signed with his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. "He is adamant that, as he has so many years left to run on his lease and spent millions from his fortune doing up the place, he is not going to leave his home," the source revealed.
