Mark Hamill might be done with portraying Luke Skywalker but he's certainly not done with humor, or hope.
Or rather Bob Hope, as the "Star Wars" actor took to social media to tell his fans why he felt old now!
Mark Hamill Wants To Call It Quits On Luke Skywalker
Mark Hamill feels Luke Skywalker is done, even as Star Wars aficionados fanned over a de-aged CGI-assisted Hamill playing Skywalker with baby Yoda in "The Book of Boba Fett".
We also saw Skywalker again in an episode of "The Mandalorian" and much as we love a faceless, masked Pedro Pascal, there's something about Mark Hamill even though we did not "see" his version of Skywalker from 1983 to 2015. There's something to be said about a pop-culture resurgence of Hamill and no one wants his version of Skywalker to go away any time soon, even as he cast doubt that he could be back as a Force ghost in the recently announced Daisy Ridley-led Star Wars film, starring Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.
In a recent appearance on CBS, Hamill indicated the opposite though, saying, "I had my time, and that’s good. But that’s enough."
He then amended his statement a little, adding, "Well, you never say never. I just don’t see any reason to. Let me put it that way, I mean, they have so many stories to tell, they don’t need Luke anymore."
But we do, we need Luke Skywalker (and baby Yoda, of course)!
Feeling Old And A Tad "Hope"less!
Hamill is besties with Harrison Ford and the two often fan over each other over the sweetest things, although Ford is a spry 80! It seems Hamill is now feeling a little old, but it's not because of his 71 years or his long innings in Hollywood. The actor, voice artist, and writer took to Twitter, telling his fans, "You don't know what old really feels like until you meet a couple of 24-yr-olds who have never heard of Bob Hope."
For those of us more in tandem with the said "24-year-olds", Bob Hope was an American comedian, entertainer, and actor, who hosted the Academy Awards a record 19 times. He starred in a series of musical comedies, often called the "Road" series with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour, and passed in 2003, aged 100!
Fans quickly flocked to Hamill's side, writing in some witty comments:
"24-year-Olds aren't real. No one was born after the year 2000. Everyone is just lying."
"When I was a kid in the 80s I thought that Bob Hope and the Pope were the same person. Names rhymes and we’re both wrinkly white dudes with mysterious powers."
"In fairness, most 24-year-olds haven’t heard of hope either."
"I’ve met 24-year-olds who don’t know who Mark Hamill is … I feel sad for those people"
Luckily, his fans have heard of his bestie, Harrison Ford, someone who Hamill thinks "still got it."

Fans Join Mark Hamill With "Back In My Day" Stories
Fans chipped in to narrate their "feeling old" stories as well, as many named other famous celebrities younger people had never heard of, like David Bowie, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, and even Pearl Jam!
More of his social media followers wrote in their anecdotes as well:
"I told my 21-year-old daughter to read the WaPo article on Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova and she said, 'Who?' I died a thousand small deaths of failed parenting."
"I'll see that and raise you: showing one of my co-workers a picture of Peter Cushing from the movie 'the House That Dripped Blood' and he looked at me and asked if that was Nicholas Cage. A small part of me just withered and died."
Several other fans echoed in similar stories"
"Or an 18-year-old that thought a Furby was called a chinchilla doll."
"I got one of these. About 5 years ago I brought up 'The Matrix' to a kid at work and he said he'd never seen it because he doesn't like old movies..."
"I feel that way when someone says they've never heard of John Wayne, Roy Rogers, or The Lone Ranger...and I'm in my 30s!"
So there you have it Mark Hamill, we're OLD! You still rock!
